Brentwood jumped out to a 27-16 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, ultimately winning 78-57. Here’s a look at some of the top players from that game.
1. Amber Furch – Brentwood 2023
Furch is a young player, but displays all the poise and fundamentals of an older player. She makes plays on both ends of the court. Offensively, she is the team’s primary ball-handler. She can make plays off the dribble and gets to the rim with ease. She’s a great three-point shooter with a quick release. Defensively, she is solid on-ball. She forces her opponent into picking up their dribble.
2. Angie Gonzalez – McFarland 2020
Gonzalez’s main trait that stood out was her ability to play both guard positions. She’s a solid ball-handler in both transition and in the half court. She keeps pace and pushes the ball the well on the fast break. In the half-court, she can get herself to the rim or she can drive and dish to her teammates for a good shot. Good midrange game.
3. Emma Dudley – Brentwood 2023
Dudley is another key member of the Eagles young group that features only one senior. At this point, she is a solid utility player. She’s in there to make plays that don’t necessarily show up in a box score. She makes a lot of hustle plays and uses her body well to grab rebounds. Sets good screens for her teammates. Offensively, she can put the ball on the floor or spot up for three.
4. Sarah Lopez – McFarland 2023
Lopez is only a freshman, but already has a versatile skill-set. She too can play multiple positions on the court. Her strength lies in her ability to make plays off the dribble. She’s a strong player who can get to the rim. Once she’s in the paint, she can finish strong. She uses her body well to absorb contact and finish the play. She can draw contact and get herself to the free-throw line.
5. Brianna Furch – Brentwood 2021
The older Furch is another versatile player who can play both guard positions as well as some forward. Offensively, she moves well without the ball. She can spot up at the three-point line or she can make good cuts to the rim. Great three-point shooter who can also put the ball on the floor. Defensively, she plays solid on and off ball defense. She reads passing lanes well and can get easy steals.
