Sophomore Donavia Hall continues to impress. Her frame is enough to be ecstatic about but when she’s aggressive few in the region can match her. The 5-10 isn’t just a head down scorer she makes plays for others. When she’s in attack mode like she was on the night, trips to the free-throw are almost automatic. Her handle of the ball and the guard position allows her to flow between easy scoring option to effective distributer.
Plano East’s posts continue to show their value on the court. Between Taylor Haggan and Idara Udo, the block saw production on both ends of the floor. The duo’s size counties to overwhelm opponents allowing her to wall up on defense and collect easy buckets around the rim.
Haggan flashes the handle to one day steps out to the wing. When she rebounds, she pushes the ball looking for teammates down the court. The 5-11 frame with strength and a handle could be a game changer as she develops.
Tiana Amos is a shooter who understands playing in the offense. On just 5 attempts she connected on four two from deep, two on the elbow, all while showing off her pull up game. The sophomore is likely a high-scoring option on her club team but knows not to force things under coach Jessica Linson.
Amaya Brannon was the most well-rounded player on the court. Whatever her team needs she gives them it without fail. She performs on defense guarding 1-4 thanks to her length and overall size. Brannon is versatile; she ran the team rebounded scored on the block and off the dribble. A consummate hustle player.
Sanaa Murphy showed the tangibles you need to be a guard at the next level. The passing and ball-handling skills are all there. Mix them with her quickness and we have a sophomore that will produce and grow in her game.
Maggie Robbins looked unassuming in the first few plays of the game. She was solid, made good passes, was in the right spot nothing flashy until it really counted. The burst of speed the guard used to create opportunities was on full display. She’s a player that deserves to be on the floor in closing minutes thanks to her shooting and smooth game.
They face off in their final regular-season matchup on January 31st.
