With admission still only $10 you will not find a better bargain in high school sports. Let’s get right to what I think are some must see match ups.
Let’s start on court two. The 10:30 game features Reservoir High against Glenelg County School. Both teams are located in Howard county so it’s a natural neighborhood rivalry game. Reservoir features 5’5″ senior guard Tiffany “Tiff Buckets” Hooker who is averaging a ridiculous 31 points per game so far. She is worth the price of admission. Stop by and check her out. Junior Ashlyn Bender will lead Glenelg Country into battle.
On Court one at 1:30 Middletown will tip off against Roland Park. This game features not one, but two seniors who are signed with UCONN. This doesn’t happen very often so let’s all gather around and enjoy two spectacular players going at it. Middletown features six foot guard Saylor Poffenbarger who can do it all. Her 3 point range is very Steph Curry- like. Roland Park is led by Mir Mclean who is one of the most spectacular athletes to come through the area in a decade. Don’t miss this one.
You can stay right on court 1 because next up is the host school McDonogh against defending 1A champions Pikesville High from just a few miles away. McDonogh will be led by junior guard Jayla Oden and freshman wing Makaela Quimby. They also feature highly recruited sophomore forward Nekhu Mitchell, a silky smooth six foot wing. Pikesville will counter with their two potential Baltimore county player of the year candidates. Kristen Sterling has been tearing it up with multiple doubles and her partner in crime senior forward Charia Roberts recently cracked 1,000 career points.
The 6pm game on court 1 will be standing room only as St. Vincent Pallotti takes on Baltimore Poly. This game is going to be a war as both teams have players that play together in the summer and will not want to give up bragging rights. Senior guard Eniya Russell signed with South Carolina and is on a mission to show everyone why she is the best guard in the area. Senior center Ajae Petty, who signed with Louisiana State and transferred to Poly, will do everything in her power to shut her Power Move teammate down. The two played together last season at Institute of Notre Dame before sharing the court in the summer before going different routes for high school. This one will be intense and fun.
