6. Macy Bryant – 5’10 Forward – Class of 2022 (9.3 ppg)
Macy Bryant is an athletic interior presence that can stretch the floor. She is almost averaging double digit rebounds, with 9.7 per game. Bryant finds space to catch on the interior and can score or find shooters on kick out passes. It is really hard to zone Fremont, and one of the reasons is because of Bryant’s decision making from the high post. She can also step outside to knock down perimeters shots or blow by defenders after a shot fake. Bryant is a matchup nightmare and her effort and activity make her even more difficult to neutralize.
5. Mya Babbit – 5’6 Guard – Class of 2023 (11.1 ppg)
Mya Babbit is one of the best shooters in the state as a freshman. She is shooting 49% from three-point range this season on over 4 attempts per game. Despite her excellent shooting percentage, Babbit doesn’t force anything. She plays under control, takes what the defense gives her, and gets her teammates involved. She earns extra possession for her team and easy baskets for herself by averaging 2.5 steals per game, mostly coming from Millard South’s full court press. It will be interesting to see if the incredible shooting continues and how Mya can build upon this impressive freshman season over the next few years.
4. Aaniya Webb – 5’10 Forward – Class of 2022 (16.9 ppg)
Aaniya Webb is a long, athletic, and versatile wing. She is aggressive attacking the rim and looking to score in transition. Omaha Central’s size is a problem for a lot of teams and Aaniya is a mismatch on the wing and as a ball handler. With a lot of focus on Omaha Central’s big interior players, Aaniya gets to attacks and finish over smaller defenders. Nearly scoring 17 points a night is impressive, but she needs to cut down on turnovers and focus on finishing at a higher level around the rim. With as good of a season as Aaniya is having, it is scary to think how much room she still has to improve.
3. Baylee Egan – 5’10 Forward/Center – Class of 2022 (11.5 ppg)
Baylee Egan is an strong and agile post that impacts the game on both ends of the floor. She is averaging a double-double with 12.5 rebounds and also contributes over a steal and blocked shot per game. She moves well, getting up and down the court, and finishes around the rim and through contact. Egan is putting up a huge stat line in her second season and leading by example on the young Bellevue East team.
2. Cora Olsen – 5’8 Guard – Class of 2023 (9.7 ppg)
Cora Olsen doesn’t play like someone playing their first year of high school basketball. She is aggressive, under control, and impacts every aspect of the game. Defensively she pressures the ball and picks off passes in the full court press. In the half court she keeps ball handlers in front of her and makes them uncomfortable. She is averaging 3.1 steals per game this season and contributes to even more turnovers. She also bring down 3.9 rebounds per game from her guard position. Offensively, Cora has a great feel for spacing, she moves the ball well, and can score from multiple places. She shoots a good percentage from 3 point range but isn’t afraid to cut through the interior and take some contact. Like with many of the underclassmen on the talented Millard South roster, it will be interesting to see how Cora improves and adjusts next season once the senior leadership has graduated.
1. Taylor McCabe – 5’9 Guard – Class of 2022 (19.8 ppg)
Taylor McCabe is the most skilled and versatile underclassmen in Nebraska. She can create space for herself off the dribble and has excellent footwork to stay on balance and score off step backs, pull up jumpers, and step throughs. She has touch to finish at the rim and with floaters. McCabe is a strong ball handler that pushes the ball up the court and can get defenders off balance with quick dribble moves. She sees the floor and finds her teammates cutting in transition and in the half court. Defensively, McCabe has long arms and good hands to poke the ball free from ball handlers and pressures opponents in the half court trap. Along with almost 20 points per game, McCabe is averaging 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 2.8 steals.
