Continue ReadingAfter taking a look at a pool of top, unsigned, 2020 bigs Prep Girls Hoops Kansas now turns its attention to available 2020 wings and small forwards. In this second in a series of posts looking at unsigned 2020s we have listed ten standout players by their current rank order.
Olathe East’s Molly Kaemmer.#25 Molly Kaemmer, 6’0″, F, Olathe East, Precision Athletics – A season ago Kaemmer was a Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) 6A honorable mention all-state selection in averaging 11.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per games. PGH’s Mason Asher reported from the Be The Best tournament this past summer: “Molly Kaemmer playing tough inside the paint. Not afraid of contact and has the ability to score a ton inside. Mobile player wants the ball all the time in the post and when she gets, she’s probably going to score. Solid rebounding player too.”
Olathe South 2020 Sophie Reed.#27 Sophie Reed, 5’10”, SG/F, Olathe South, Kansas Elite – The Olathe South guard makes strong and consistent use of head and shoulder fakes to get to the basket from either side off the dribble drive. She is able to finish athletically with either hand and has shown strong inside post up ability. She also has the speed in transition to get her easy baskets. Her threat to drive is especially effective given her three point range. Defensively her hand speed, quickness, and ability to anticipate enable her to jump passing lanes, work over ball handlers, and challenge and block shots.
Shawnee Mission West senior Kierra Prim. Courtesy of Kierra Prim.#34 Kierra Prim, 5’7″, G/F, Shawnee Mission West, Lady Run GMC– A KBCA 6A honorable mention all-state and Sunflower League second team selection last season, Prim averaged more than 14 points per game. Being fast (was on 2018 6A 6th place 4X400 team) and quick with great hand speed, she is an strong defender. Her ability to elevate makes her a shot blocking threat. She needs to continuing development into a consistent perimeter shooter.
#41 Elisabeth Crawford, 5’9″, G/F, Shawnee Mission South, Next Level Eclipse – Crawford can finish athletically with either hand. She is able to use a good baby hook with either hand, a reverse pivot to set up dribble drives, and a good mid-range jumper to create scoring opportunities. Defensively tough, she has the instincts to draw offensive fouls on the interior.
#43 Kinzie Comley, 5’7″, G/F, Sterling, SC Dream – Comley was a KBCA 2A honorable mention all-state and first team all Heart Of America League selection on the state runner up. Early this season she made the [Cheney] Cardinal Classic all tournament team. Fast in transition and aggressive on the boards, she has a quick post move from right-side block. Because she is a a three-point threat who can finish in transition, she can beat defending wings and small forwards off the dribble.
After getting a steal Wichita Southeast’s Chariah Daniels drives to the basket on Dodge City’s Amaya Perez in their 2019 Mid America Classic game.#56 Chariah Daniels, 5’9″, F, Wichita Southeast, BGCB – Over the summer this Greater Wichita League honorable mention selection transformed her game from a fast, quick, reliable defensive player into serious problem to defend as a scorer. As she continues to expand her perimeter game she will be that much tougher. A solid defensive rebounder and free throw shooter she has added good interior power dribble and reverse pivoting that enables her to finish athletically off post moves. At the Reign the Plains event this past summer she continued to show a strong motor on both ends. She has terrific hops but can be occasionally inattentive off the ball and out of control with the ball in transition. Would like to see her get stronger and use her body as a shield better when finishing.
#74 Alie Fulks, 5’7″, G, Shawnee Heights – TCJ player to watch. Fulks was a United Kansas Conference first team selection last season and was featured as a Topeka Capital Journal player to watch this season. Last season she averaged 12 points (44% three point percentage with 37 made), 3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. Fulks can shoot quickly from the perimeter off the catch, has good court vision, and moves well without the ball. Shows more scoring athleticism with her right, including a terrific floater, but can finish with both hands. She makes good use of change of pace, back up, and cross-over dribbles to create space.
#77 Kylie Dohl, 5’8″, W, Jackson Heights – Dohl was a KBCA 2A second team all-state selection last year and a Northeast Kansas League first team selection for the second year in a row. Leading her team to the state tournament she averaged 17 points and 8 rebounds . She crossed the 1,000 points threshold in mid-December.
Conway Springs 2020 Kara Koester. Image from Mulvane Sports#78 Kara Koester, 5’10”, G/F, Conway Springs – While averaging 15.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 2.3 steals Koester was a KBCA 2A honorable mention all-state and first team all Central Plains League selection a year ago. In mid-December she was selected to the [Cheney] Cardinal Classic all tournament team. Nearing the halfway point of the season she has upped most of averages to 17.9 points, 10 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.3 assists. She is shooting 33% from behind the arc with 9 makes and averaging 70% from the line.
#88 Karolina Juresiute, 6’0″, W, Sunrise Christian Academy, Next Level Eclipse – Juresiute has a diverse skill set including perimeter and solid half court handles. She put those on display at Reign the Plains this past summer in averaging 9.5 points (1/1 from three), 3.5 rebounds, and 1 assist per game. She has drawn interest from Benedictine, Baker, Hesston, and Cowley.
