O’Gorman hammered SF Roosevelt, a clear mismatch in an awesome venue, featuring superb seats, a time-out playlist to die for, big-screen views, and not-too-salty-popcorn.
Also on Thursday, Tea Area versus West Central had (at least) five colleges/coaches present to scout. Tea’s undefeated streak became a memory under the onslaught of WC’s up-tempo pace and deep bench rotation. Could have been worse: Rylee Haldeman wore a walking boot, not her game uniform. State tournament-caliber team being built by Joe Caffrey….again.
SF O’Gorman – On cruise control in this game; taller, stronger, faster than SFR. Jan 25th collision against RC Stevens looms ahead.
Allison Crouch scores for O’Gorman – photo by Lee CumminsCarly Kunkel 2020 5’6 PG – Recognizes opportunities and distributes to best option. Her high BB IQ selects from the many weapons available. Strong and agile, Kunkel controls the foe’s best outside scorer, then leads the transition fast break.
Izzy Moore 2021 5’9 W – Scored first 9 points: three drives and a trey. A very athletic wing whose aggressive mindset pushes the team forward.
Allison Crouch 2020 5’8 G – Decidedly prefers to go with the LH option using good foot speed, passing, and leadership savvy.
Raegen Reilly 2021 5’10 F – Seeing RR’s several skill sets forecasts that O’G will compete for next year’s state title, as well.
Bergen Reilly 2023 6’0 F – Younger Reilly could be the next “Big” for O’G. She has the physical gifts to have a break out season now.
Emma Ronsiek 2020 6’1 F – Best AA player seems to enjoy mentoring as much as devastating the opposition.
SF Roosevelt Rough Riders – Competed hard here, against O’G’s length and height. The near future looks brighter with young players getting bonus floor time.
SF Roosevelt attacks O-Gorman defense Jan 9 2020 – photo by Lee CumminsElizabeth Denevan 2022 5’7 G – One of four notable talents working to get better; very poised and steady.
Taliyah Hayes 2022 5’8 G -Strong drives but difficult finishes versus O’G’s help defense.
Kaela Martinez 2022 5’8 G -Quick moves, spiffy ball handles, and great defensive positions.
Cierra Watkins 2023 5’6 G – Solid in and against half court sets; willing to bang around inside to rebound. A star-in-the-making?
Tea Area Titans – Partial pressure of oxygen in gym air must have gotten low when Tea tanked in the fourth quarter.
Bailey Conrad 2020 5’6 G – Adept PG ranks alongside Rianna Fillipi of Lennox as team leader, floor general, and effective scorer.
Oliva Ritter 2021 5’9 G – Hit 25-pt, many were deep bombs . A real shot at playing college hoops with her scoring, athleticism, and aggressiveness.
Sam Kloos 2020 5’7 G – Could almost say “ditto” to the Ritter remarks. Smooth, always alert, and good decisions characterize Kloos’ game.
West Central Trojans – Even without Rylee Haldeman (#2 wore a walking boot), bench depth won the game in the fourth quarter.
Loose Rebound Interests Both Teams – photo by Lee CumminsAddy Kramer 2022 5’8 W – Young but experienced ball handler with agility at both ends. Better than you think; then its too late.
Josslin Jarding 2022 5’6 G – Handled point, dropped dimes, dished inside, and accelerated to the rim in 1-or-2-dribbles.
Cheyanne Masterson 2020 5’8 W – Hard nosed rebounder and defender with typical WC sneaky good offensive talent.
Shaw Nelson 2021 5’6 G – Very quick clone of an older sister who nearly won a state title; same clutch perimeter treys.
Cassidy Siemonsma 2021 6’1 C – Roamed the baseline, hitting from 15-ft-&-in; strong presence that Tea tried to face guard at times.

Also saw two sets of Huskies: EPJ & Bridgewater-Emery and noted the attributes as follows.
Elk Point Jefferson Huskies – Pressure trap defense exposed ball handling needs.
Maddie Hammitt 2023 5’6 G – Hit an early trey, but did not continue to create scoring opportunities.
Lily Kempf 2020 5’6 G – Showed speed with assertive decision-making on the fly.
Reily Donnelly 2020 5’9 G – Hit 9-pts & passed thru pressing defense well.
Bridgewater-Emery Huskies – Never adjusted to defenders flying by nor to the speed of the game, in general.
Kerrigan Schultz 2021 5’8 W – Maybe not back fully from ACL surgery; body language needs make-over.
Julia Weber 2022 5’7 G – Best shooter never got going. Her smooth handles and reliable passing will carry team this season.
Chloe Schmitt 2022 6’0 C – Inside presence can keep paint clear; scoring with different finishes would frustrate foes.
On Saturday, PGH Dakotas saw the slate of 9 games in Madison at the DSU/Mustang Seed Classic. See Part Two.
