Hamilton Vs Westcheter 1/15
The game went back and forth with neither team able to gain any separation. There were a few lead changes, especially down the stretch. Ultimately, Hamilton was able to secure the win behind senior wing Kennedee Rankin. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts from the game from both teams.
1. Kennedee Rankin – Hamilton 2020
Rankin was the top player throughout the game and responded down the stretch when her team needed her most. She is a versatile wing who can play both guard and forward. She has good footwork in the paint and a nice little hook shot. She can attack the rim with ease and get herself to the free-throw line. She’s solid in transition and pushes the ball well on the fast break.
2. Dani Burnside – Westchester 2022
Burnside looks like she’ll be a key player for the Comets for the next couple of years as she’s only sophomore. She gets good position in the paint, especially on the glass. She’s a solid defensive rebounder, but she fights hard on the offensive glass to secure extra possessions for her team. She moves well without the ball and makes solid cuts around the rim where she can finish strong.
3. Sherisse Chensam – Hamilton 2021
Chensam is a long and mobile defender on the perimeter. She sticks with the player she’s guarding and she plays good denial defense off ball. She always keeps herself moving on the court and doesn’t remain stationary on the offensive end. Pretty solid three-point shooter. Runs the break well and can make a move to the rim.
4. Naariyah West – Westchester 2021
West is a fearless and tough player who doesn’t mind taking big shots down the stretch of a close game. She doesn’t waste time on the court, she knows where she wants to go and can get there in one to two dribbles only. She’s a good ball-handler, especially under defensive pressure. Always looks to find her teammates for good shots. She has great court vision and is a key player who plays big minutes despite coming off the bench.
5. Ariana Grimes – Westchester 2020
Grimes is a tough inside presence who compliments Burnside well in the frontcourt. She is solid in the pick and roll as the roller. She can move well in the paint and finishes strong at the rim. She makes herself an intimidating presence for opposing players looking to attack the rim, good paint protector. Boxes out well and secures rebounds.
