Lydsey Heckel 5’9″ Nernix Hall: A standout soccer player who also excels on the basketball court. She was plagued by foul trouble throughout the semifinals against Oakville, but she came up with a big performance in the championship game win over Gateway STEM. She scored a game-high 24 points, while knocking down three 3-pointers and making all nine of her free throws. She has good size in the backcourt to go along with her athleticism. Kaitlyn Simms 6’1″ Gateway STEM: A much improved post player who was productive at both ends of the floor in the Jaguars’ victory over Westminster in the semifinals. She established a nice base when she posted up and showcased a variety of moves and a nice shooting touch inside as she finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Was very impressed with her use of both hands as well as her use of the backboard.
Amori Dampier-McCloud 5’11” Gateway STEM: A talented wing guard who has good height on the perimeter plus a very controlled style of play. The lefty is a solid ball handler who makes good decisions and she can knock down an open jumper from the mid-range or from 3-point territory. She is a four-year starter who provides a steady hand with her ball handling and passing.
Caylynn Gicante 6’1 Oakville: A very solid low post player who did some nice things in the first half of the semifinal game against Nerinx Hall. She was a big factor early with seven points in the paint while having a nice presence defensively in the middle of her team’s zone defense. She did a good job of catching the ball and keeping it up to finish inside. Good fundamentals.
Kinnuady Daniels 5’8 Gateway STEM: The combo forward was a force on the offensive boards in the Jaguars’ victory over Westminster in the semifinals. She had 12 points and 17 rebounds, with 15 of those coming on the offensive end. That is no misprint. She really did get that many offensive rebounds. Whether it was getting excellent position inside or simply getting out of her area, she simply dominated the glass and kept getting extra possessions for her team.
Angela Elguezabal 5’10 Oakville: A solid all-purpose player who does a little of everything for her team. She’s a good athlete who is active and always around the ball.
