Aaliyah Macias floaterLet me back it up on Heights Aaliyah Macias got the ball rolling early and by rolling I mean into the basket as both her attacking the rim and hitting the jumper for scores, that sort of opened everything else. Tierra Simon did a good job in the post, she also scored some big baskets but when you add the three from Jada Beasley and Tatianna Brown dropping the basket at the buzzer to give them a 19-10 lead, what else do you need? Gracelynn Alvarez because she can get hers two ways, in the flow or taking defenders off of the dribble and once she got going, the Heights fans were rocking Delamar, which by the way is simply beautiful. Alvarez dropped a couple of three pointers in the opening quarter as well as some acrobatic layups but she opened the second quarter with a 3 and a 2 and I had to sit down because these doubleheaders are tough but she dropped another three as well and had to be close to 20 when I threw in the towel and they were up 37-19
Casey ThomasBush fought hard, Arrianna Sturdivant (UTRGV) is one of the areas top long-ball threats but she also can score off the dribble. Definitely loved the energy on the inside from Casey Thomas, she battled for everything off the glass and helped ignite a couple of early rallies by scoring. Da’Jah and De’Jah Vigilante applied pressure to cause turnovers, the same could be said for Skiahla Chalmers, but Heights was just too strong for the seniors from Bush and won 77-59. I talked about the supporting cast for Heights, Sincere Roberts defies gravity and in order for them to have a chance against Cypress Creek, the supporting cast is going to have to be on because Kyndall Hunter and Rori Harmon are one of the best backcourts in the country and are combining for probably over 40 easily, Taylor Jackson has taken a huge turn during the season and will be key the rest of the playoffs and speaking of key, Morgan Hill (Louisiana Monroe) may be the one to unlock the door
