Olympic High School is a program on the rise and after taking down Ardrey Kell in their 1st meeting of the season, they were looking to make it a clean sweep in the regular season. The game was one of the most exciting games of the year including a 4th quarter that showcased the great athletic ability on the court. Ardrey Kell held a lead for most of the game then Olympic was able to cause back to back turnovers to take the lead with 9 seconds on the clock at 29 – 27, Ardrey Kell Senior Guard – Evan Miller was able to take the inbounds pass and go coast to coast to tie the game with 4 seconds left on the clock to push the game to overtime. Miller took over the overtime period, scoring 10 of the teams 12 points in the extra period to push them to a 41 – 33 Victory over Olympic.
– Evan Miller – 2020 – 5’11” – Guard – Ardrey Kell – The Senior Guard has always impressed me with her shooting ability but now has shown the ability to take over games with her slashing ability & finishing in traffic. The UNC-Wilmington Commit is playing extremely well down the stretch of her final season at Ardrey Kell, I am looking forward to seeing her during the State Playoffs. The team Captain finished with 29 Points, including the game tying basket to push the game to overtime and 10 of the 12 points in Overtime.
– Lucy Vanderbeck – 2021 – 5’9” – Guard – Ardrey Kell – The junior guard has really taken over as a go to person in their tight games, she has a tremendous IQ for the game and how to move without the ball in her hands. Lucy has been a tremendous scorer for many years but this year has acted as a 2nd Point Guard and has been able to score out of the post as well. This game showcased her ability to be a “Stat sheet stuffer” scoring 5 Points in crucial moments, grabbing 6 rebounds, 4 Assists & 3 Steals in the Overtime Victory.
– Aniyah Scales – 2023 – 5’8” – Guard – Olympic – This freshman is a player to watch and the college coaches are going to start to catch on this Spring/Summer AAU/Club season. Aniyah is a Point Guard that has a strong handle and ability to get her teammates in positions to score off the pass, and also adds a scoring punch to help her team get the win. During the 1st half Aniyah finished the 2nd quarter with a 3-Pt Buzzer beater to cut the deficit to 4 pts during a slow start, she also came up with a steal & score to tie the game with under a minute left in 4th qtr. This Freshman finished the game with 12 Points and made 2 – 3Ptrs, she is going to have a fantastic career at Olympic.
– Jada Brigman – 2022 – 5’9” – Guard – Olympic – This girl knows how to get a bucket, and has spent her 2 years in high school leading her team in that category, Jada is a physical player that can score on the block or from beyond the arc. I appreciate the fact that Jada wants the ball when the game is tight and her team needs a score and she usually delivers in those moments. Olympic has a small lineup and their opponents try to cover Jada with a Power Forward and she is like “OK” and goes to work… This girl has a great perimeter shot and it will be showcased throughout her career.
– Emerson Harding – 2020 – 6’1” – Post – Ardrey Kell – Growing into a tremendous back line defender, came into this season with a tremendous opportunity to prove herself to college coaches as a player to keep an eye on. I can tell that she has dedicated herself to getting stronger and being more physical, had 2 pts – 7 Reb – 7 Blks during this game and really was a presence as a rim protector. I believe that this season has shown college coaches that she can be trusted on their rosters for years to come.
