I was playing with some thoughts in my head and some of the juniors have not only taken their game up a notch but they are key to their teams leading their districts and here are a few
Taylor Jackson (Cy Creek) undoubtedly the best team in the area, no ifs, ands or butts and with one of the countries top backcourts in Rori Harmon and Kyndall Hunter, a couple of the nations best juniors, they were perceived to be among the major players as far as teams going to state. Jackson has elevated her game, she’s finishing strongly in the paint, was recently named All-Tournament in one of the states biggest tournaments, the Mansfield ISD event and her rebounding continues to improve ao with knockdown shooters, her added scoring makes this team a legitimate threat to win it all
Aiken Semones (The Village School) breakout season for the talented long ball shooter who has shown she can do more than that. Her school is not only one of the top private schools in the state, but it’s also one of the top schools at any level having beaten many of the ranked public schools this season. She plays on a team loaded with next-level talent and that level goes all the way up to BCS, she has had multiple games of 8 or more long balls yet she’s mixing it up to keep defenders on their toes
Bre’yon White (Shadow Creek) leads her team in scoring, rebounding, blocks and steals, why because she plays the passing lane, one of my pet peeves I complain about players not doing yet she is just doing a variety of other things that might not appear on a scoresheet that only a knowledgeable evaluator would notice and those intangibles have been key to not only her teams success but elevating her status among college coaches at the next level
Aleighyah Fontenot (Ridge Point) she leads her team in scoring and just went over the 1000 point mark a few weeks ago but watching her progression from a 9-year-old back to the basket player to becoming one of the areas best long ball shooters has been astounding. She has double-digit threes in games multiple times in her high school career but one thing players need to understand is how to mix it up and she has this season, taking defenders off the dribble for the midrange or just all the way
