In the semifinals, Detroit Cass Tech extended their record to 14-1 with a 70-38 victory over Detroit King. Meanwhile, Detroit Renaissance ran their record to 15-2 by beating defending champion Mumford by a score of 67-36. The 2 powerhouse teams will square off in the PSL tournament championship, in what has the makings of an instant classic. The game will tip on Friday February 14 at 5PM at Calihan Hall.
Prospects
There will be next level talent all over the court at Calihan Hall. I will give you a look at 7 prospects to keep an eye on.
Kailee Davis (2021, PG, Detroit Renaissance)
Davis is an elite floor general in Michigan regardless of class. A Division 1 school will love her quickness and playmaking ability.
Nika Dorsey (2021, Wing, Detroit Renaissance)
Dorsey is quick and athletic coming off the wing. She can score at multiple levels.
Mikyah Finley (2021, G/F, Detroit Renaissance)
Finley has all the intangibles of a solid Division 1 prospect. Her size and ball skills make her a tough matchup.
Shannon Wheeler (2021, PF, Detroit Renaissance)
Wheeler is a grinder that has good foot footwork in the paint. She reads the ball off the rim and positions herself for the rebound.
Precious Fields (2021, SG, Detroit Cass Tech)
Fields is rising quickly up the prospect rankings. She’s a solid defender and is showing marked improvement as a playmaker and scorer.
Desiree Jackson (2021, PG, Detroit Cass Tech)
Jackson is a smooth moving and athletic point guard. She uses her vertical speed to run the floor with ease.
Keyonna Johnson (2021, PF, Detroit Cass Tech)
Johnson is a post player with tons of potential. College coaches will want to see for themselves.
Prediction
This one is tough to call. Screenshot this: In 3 years check out these 2 rosters because you will probably have a pretty good start to a Division 1 mid major team. I’ve absolutely loved the look of Detroit Renaissance since early January. I’ll stick with them and say 65-55 Detroit Renaissance. They just have too many weapons that can do so many different things.
