Eastern Kansas League (EKL)
Bishop Miege, Blue Valley, Blue Valley North, Blue Valley Northwest, Blue Valley Southwest, Blue Valley West, Mill Valley, St. James, St. Thomas Aquinas.
Abby Augustine, 5’8, G, 2022, Blue Valley Southwest
A promising scoring option for Southwest who has a great 3-point shot and some leadership qualities that make her stand out. She has good ball control and is aware of her surroundings and looks to pull up quickly and knock down 3-pointers. She has a good step back and moves well off the ball and can create some with her dribble as well. Augustine is also a scrappy defender who stays in front of the ball and is great at applying pressure on the perimeter. A sophomore guard to keep your eyes on.
Sophia Deveney, G 2022, Blue Valley
Deveney is another sophomore guard who can hit 3-pointers from several feet behind the line. She likes to catch the ball and step into her shot and can score from nearly anywhere on the arc. Deveney can handle the ball some and has a timing to her game that can often lull opponents which gives her an opportunity to score. She is a confident player in the mid range who pulls up in transition around the free throw line.
Brynn Grosdidier, 5’10, F, 2022, Blue Valley Northwest
Grosdidier has good size at 5’10 and can come down with rebounds and block shots. She is a player who is often in the right spot at the right time. She’s improving her conditioning and looks to play hard and get back on defense and protect the basket.
Gabi Henderson-Artis, G, 2022, Bishop Miege
Another sophomore guard who is playing some strong minutes for Bishop Miege. Henderson-Artis moves well defensively and can stay in front of her opponents and block shots inside. She is a good decision maker as a defender and knows when to play physical and when to let things play out on their own. She can score when she has an open look and looks to make extra passes and feed the player with the hot hand.
Emajin McCallop, G, 2022, Bishop Miege
McCallop has a great tempo to her game and can create looks as a lead guard or even operate off the ball well. She can hit shots from several feet beyond the arc or break down some plays with her dribble. McCallop keeps your head up and looks to make smart passes inside two fellow teammate Payton Verhulst. The two players work well together and McCallop’s vision and passing takes some of the pressure off Verhulst in terms of creating shots on her own.
Greta Trowbridge, G, 2022, Mill Valley
Trowbridge has a nice shot for the corner. She has good movement and can see time on the wing and in the corner 3-point area given her shooting ability from those places. She collapses on the ball and even looks to rebound despite being one of the smaller guards on her team. She’s aggressive when she needs to and plays with passion and is always looking for ways to contribute as a passer and scorer.
Emree Zars, 5’10, G, 2022, Mill Valley
A promising player giving her height, skills and mobility as an inside-outside player. Zars has a fluid nature to her game which helps her adapt to situations on both ends of the floor. She makes a statement with her defense and can stay with opponents and contest and even block shots. She has a solid ball security and can dribble well for her size both on the perimeter and around the glass. Also a player who can stretch the floor with her outside shooting.
