I can see these teams battling for the division crown over the next 2-3 years. Keenan won the game, however Catawba Ridge hung close and pushed Keenan to the end. As I mentioned there was young talent on the floor and here are 4 players to keep an eye on down the road!
MiLaysia Fulwiley
I’ve watched a number of girls play and this freshmen guard Fulwiley is the best I have seen so far. That is a huge statement but it’s correct. Fulwiley has the total package and then some. It takes serious skill and will to impress me and I’ll admit, I’ve been impressed! Fulwiley checks the boxes. Let’s start with her IQ. She can see the floor, understands when to push the pace, can find the open player with ease and seems to have a great attitude. She is very athletic and is a great athlete. Some kids can run and jump which equates to being an athletic. Other kids have skills in their bag that they can use when needed which equated to an athlete. Fulwiley displays both! Not only can she shoot the stand alone jumper but she can score off the dribble displaying hang time! Her ball handling is superior and she can contort her body to the point where she can squeeze through cracks while dribbling. She is very hard to defend and she is just a freshmen! She is one to watch for the next 3 years!
Ashari Lewis
Ashari Lewis is a sophomore forward for Keenan high school. She gets lost in the shuffle because she plays with probably the best player in the state but understand, she is good. Lewis can score from 15 and does a great job of getting her shot off in the paint. She catches precise passes from Fulwiley which means she has good hands and awareness. I’d like to see her work on dribbling and making the deep jumper. I think if she can work on those aspects of her game this summer she will put herself in place to garner strong recognition.
Victoria Jordan is a junior forward for Catawba Ridge. Jordan is a solid player. She is the backbone of the team. She runs the floor, slashes to the basket, boards well and is sneaky good. You need her on the floor to give leadership and toughness. I’d like to see her tighten her overall game up over the summer. If she can skill build and tighten up her mid-range shot, she will be really good.
Tatum Postal
Tatum Postal is a freshmen guard for Catawba Ridge. She can shoot the ball. If you leave her open, she will nail it! She moves well without the ball and she understands how to get open. She doesn’t need much space to get her shot off. She is fearless and can keep you in a game when she gets rolling. Again, she is a freshmen, so I’m anxious to see how her overall game develops!
