We finally have someone new taking home the #1 spot in the All-State Power Rankings. Valley Vista earned this spot after defeating Millennium on the road. Valley finishes as the #1 team in state overall.
#2 Millennium 17-1 (5A)
Millennium drops one spot due to their loss, as mentioned earlier. However, I do not think the loss warrants dropping them any further than #2. They are still an amazing team and I do believe they could beat any other team on this list.
#3 Seton Catholic 18-0 (4A)
Seton Catholic takes home the #3 seed due to their dominance all season long. SC has blown virtually everyone out of the gym and looks like the 4A State Title Favorites.
#4 Hamilton 16-2 (6A)
Hamilton finishes at the #4 spot. They dropped a couple games, which in turn dropped them in the rankings a little bit…not too much. They could really disrupt some teams in the playoffs and I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw them in the state finals.
#5 Shadow Mountain 17-1 (4A)
Shadow Mountain has also had a really good year, unfortunately for them, their loss to Seton Catholic came back to haunt them. Neither team lost a game since their first meeting, ranking Seton Catholic as #1 and Shadow Mountain as #2 in 4A.
#6 Perry 15-3 (6A)
Perry caught fire towards the end of the season and started playing like the team I knew they could be. Very proud of them for doing that and now they have their sights set on the playoffs.
#7 Pinnacle 17-1 (6A)
Pinnacle has looked really good this season. I think they are a very talented team no doubt. They only reason they come in so low is because of their strength of schedule.
#8 Chandler 14-4 (6A)
Chandler started off the season really hot! However, dropping both games to Hamilton and Perry really set them back a ton. They were previously a top 5 team in state overall. Can they bounce back in the playoffs?
#9 Cactus Shadows 18-0 (5A)
Cactus Shadows and Sahuaro are in the same boat. Both have had great seasons but I don’t think they have the talent to keep up with the other teams on the list. I ranked CS above Sahuaro due to CS being the #2 spot in 5A.
#10 Sahuaro 17-1 (4A)
Sahuaro rounds out our list. They have a really good squad and have turned in a great year. However, I just don’t think they have the firepower to keep up with some of the other incredible squads on the list.
