Monday: West Marshall (14-1) @ North Mahaska (13-2) @ 5:30PM
This is a big game for both teams as they are both off to great starts to the year. This is a game that would give a team a lot of momentum going into the state tournament as both of these schools have the potential to get to Des Moines. It would be a great win for the team that comes out in front.
Tuesday: Des Moines Roosevelt (9-7) @ Ames (8-9) @ 6:00PM
This is a game in which both teams have a couple of talented players but then not much else. Ames is led by a duo of juniors while Roosevelt has a quartet of underclassmen that are a problem. This should be a game that is decided by how well the guards for both teams play.
Tuesday: Central DeWitt (14-1) @ Maquoketa (14-4) @ 6:00PM
This is going to be a very interesting game that could go either way. Both of these teams’ records make them seem legit, and they likely are, but it has been tough to tell with their schedules. Central DeWitt has the second easiest and Maquoketa has the third easiest schedule in 4A. This game is going to be a step towards proving legitimacy.
Tuesday: Pekin (11-4) @ Mediapolis (17-1) @ 6:00PM
Mediapolis has been cruising through their schedule this season and Pekin has been a bit of surprise. Mediapolis is looking like a state tournament contender while Pekin has been playing spoiler all season long. This is going to be a very fun small school matchup on Tuesday night.
Tuesday: Nodaway Valley (16-2) @ Mount Ayr (14-2) @ 6:00PM
Another really solid small school matchup as Nodaway Valley travels to Mount Ayr. Both of these teams have had really good seasons thus far and a win would cement them into having a very good season and likely push them over the top for a good draw in the state tournament.
Thursday: AGWSR (12-5) @ Grundy Center (13-4) @ 6:00PM
Grundy Center has had a really solid season this year for what they lost to graduation last season, and have proven themselves against some of the top teams in the area. AGWSR is seemingly still trying to find an identity but they have a host of scorers they can rely on. This should be a good one.
Friday: Exira-EHK (16-1) @ CAM (13-4) @ 6:00PM
Exira-EHK has easily run out to a 16-1 record this year and looks to have a trip to the Well within their grasp. CAM has played really solid basketball this season and a win at home over Exira-EHK would put them in a really good position. This should be a great look at both teams heading into the meat of February.
Friday: Springville (15-3) @ North Linn (16-1) @ 6:00PM
North Linn comes into this Friday game as the end game to a tough week. These two teams met earlier in the season with North Linn grabbing a 19-point win on the road. I think that Springville is a bit better than what showed in that game and we should expect this one to be a good one throughout.
Friday: Bishop Garrigan (17-1) @ West Hancock (17-0) @ 6:00PM
A rematch of one of the top games of the year in Iowa so far happens on Friday night. West Hancock escaped with a one-point win in early January and they’ll look to do the same on Friday. Both of these teams have a great chance to be holding the title at the end of the year in 1A and 2A.
Saturday: Roland-Story (14-2) @ Colo-Nesco (14-3) @ 5:00PM
Roland-Story has been impressive so far this year as they’ve rarely had to play their starters into the fourth quarter. Colo-Nesco has won some big games this year and this would be their biggest win of the season so far. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a Colo-Nesco win, but I also wouldn’t be shocked to see Roland-Story run away with the game.
