As the Greater Metro Conference heads into playoff action, let’s break down players who are expected to step up big for their teams.
Anna Mortag | Brookfield Central | Senior
A 6’0 forward who is averaging 19.5 points per game. Mortag leads the Greater Metro Conference in scoring. She is also averaging 9.2 rebounds per game. In a close loss to conference champions Germantown, Mortag grabbed 16 rebounds and scored 37 points. As a tall post player, Mortag has a rare composure with the ball. She does a great job of attacking the lane off the bounce. Anna Mortag is committed to IUPUI.
Taylor Tagliavia | Wauwatosa West | Junior
Tagliavia has a nice shot from deep. She puts up multiple three point shots per game and can easily go off any given night. She’s a talented shooting guard who also has extremely good court vision, making several nice passes to her teammates. She is averaging 8.2 points per game for Wauwatosa West. In a game against Brookfield Central, Tagliavia scored 20 points. She plays with a lot of composure on offense and facilitates so well.
Chloe Dallas | Wauwatosa East | Junior
Dallas is a talented 6’2 center with a great understanding of her role on her squad. She moves well without the ball and finds great position offensively. She has developed into a defensive specialist this season and has been earning multiple blocks per game. She has over 20 blocks on the season. She is averaging 16.2 points and 9 rebounds per game for Wauwatosa East. In her last game against Brookfield East, Dallas scored 28 points and grabbed 7 boards. Dallas has five Division 1 offers thus far.
CJ Romero | Brookfield Central | Junior
A 5’3 guard who has helped lead her team to a great season. She is a true point guard and helps her team be successful in transition. She is averaging 9.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game. Romero is a poised guard who does so many things right for her team. In a match-up against Sussex Hamilton, Romero scored 19 points. In a huge win over Wauwatosa East, Romero grabbed 13 rebounds. Furthermore in a win over Wauwatosa West, Romero dished out 11 assists.
Alyah Garcia | DSHA | Senior
An experienced shooting guard who has helped her team to second in the conference this season. She is a role player for her team that contributes some of everything to each game. She is a solid ball handler and has a quick first step to the rim. At 5’2 Garcia goes straight at contact and is relentless offensively. She is averaging 10.4 points. In a win over Mischicat, Garcia scored a season-high 21 points on 7-12 shooting.
Nicole Ghelfi | Sussex Hamilton | Sophomore
A 5’6 guard who has really developed her game this season. Ghelfi is the floor general for her squad. She has excellent court vision and is even better at finding her teammates with a pass. She plays super hard and it shows each night. Ghelfi pushes the tempo on offense and runs the court so well. She is averaging 7.8 points per game. A playmaker for Sussex Hamilton, she is also averaging 3.1 assists per game.
Alyssa Madison | West Allis Hale | Senior
Madison is a quick guard who has a lot of skill. She handles the ball well and finds ways to attack the basket. She pushes the ball well in transition and has been consistent with her effort throughout the season. She is a complete player who has kept her team in games. She averages 8.2 points for her team. She scored 17 points in a win over Wauwatosa East and scored her season-high 20 points in a team win over West Allis Central.
Payton Rechlicz | Menomonee Falls | Freshman
A young 5’8 guard with so much potential has really stepped up for Menomonee Falls. She has had an impressive statistical season with 9.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. In a win over Wauwatosa East, Rechlicz scored 19 points and grabbed 6 boards. As a freshman, Rechlicz has stepped up and played with patience and poise all season. On defense this season she has been quite the difference maker. She plays pressure defense all game long and causes multiple turnovers.
