Hamilton’s Tori Davis joins 1000-point club
Hamilton High School senior Tori Davis is the most recent player to join the 1000-point club in Arizona. Davis hit the career milestone on Thursday night in her team’s 52-37 win over Highland. Going into the game, Davis knew she was approaching the milestone, and when she hit it, it was a feeling of immense success.
“It was a relief watching the ball go through the net. It had been a rough game shooting-wise for everyone, so I was glad to finally get it,” Davis said.

The senior plays on a team where multiple players have the ability to be the team’s leading scorer, but instead they all work together and pass the ball well. Because of that team before me mentality, it can be a little tougher for players to reach milestones like this. As part of that team mentality, Davis decided not to tell her teammates about where she was at so that everyone could remain focused on the game and the task at hand.
“It was kind of nice but funny watching their facial expressions, some a little mad I didn’t tell them before hand, but it felt really good receiving the love and support I did from them,” Davis said.
Right now, Davis is averaging 10.1 points per game. As a senior, this was a huge accomplishment for her to be able to achieve, especially with just two more games remaining for the team in the regular season at the time. The Huskies went on to beat Basha on Friday and will have one more regular season game on Tuesday against Xavier.
Hamilton is sitting towards the top of the 6A rankings and the reigning state champs will be looking to repeat with another title this year. Davis said she was glad she hit the milestone before the playoffs started.
“It feels good to go ahead and get it out the way not have to worry about it going into playoffs and being able jus to focus on the game,” Davis said.
