One of those seniors who have been monumental for the team is Jasmine Singleton, who in the semi-final game went on to set the school record for both the most assists and steals in a single season. Just a few games prior, her teammate and fellow senior Alexandra Zelaya broke the school’s single season scoring record, helping to create a dynamic duo out on the court for the Tigers.
“Alexandra and I have become so close throughout these four years. I have been truly blessed to not only meet and be friends with but also to have her as a teammate through these last four years. She has brought out the best in me and I will miss playing with her next year.
With 132 steals this season so far and 125 assists, Singleton still has one last game to play in to continue adding on to her legacy she’s leaving behind at Millennium. Singleton said she knew she was getting close to setting the record, so the moment they announced it, it was a huge sense of accomplishment for her.
“To close out my last home game of high school it was a bittersweet moment, just to look back and see how far I’ve come makes me happy, but knowing it’s coming to an end is sad to think about,” Singleton said.
Next year, Singleton will go on to play at the University of Nevada Las Vegas on a full-ride scholarship.
“I can’t wait to see what my next chapter has in store for me,” Singleton said.
You can watch Singleton and Zelaya take the court together one last time on Monday, March 2nd 2020 at ASU’s Desert Financial Arena when Millennium takes on Sunrise Mountain for the 5A state championship game. Tipoff is at 6 p.m.
