While Allen has secured a spot in the playoffs, Plano West had already been eliminated from the postseason prior to this matchup. However, the Wolves made sure to make their last game of the season count, pulling off the road upset over the Eagles thanks in large part to their inspired effort and tremendous shooting. Plano West ultimately won by a score of 65-58, ending their year on a high note.
Here are seven intriguing prospects from the game:
Maya Kendall – 2020 5’7 Point Guard Plano West HS – The senior guard was brilliant in the last outing of her high school career. She showed off her flashy dribbling skills on several occasions, highlighted by a pair of ankle-breaking cross overs that lead to step-back threes. The Midwestern State commit is so good at creating space for herself out on the perimeter and is poised for an excellent college career.
Monica Marsh – 2023 5’3 Combo Guard Plano West HS – Marsh had a spectacular shooting night vs. the Eagles accounting for five three-pointers. She can hit the three-ball in a variety of different scenarios. The freshman drained multiple catch and shoot triples, but also showed that she can bury jumpers after taking a rhythm dribble. She even hit a dagger three in the fourth that gave West enough of a cushion to escape with the victory. The underclassman has a promising high school career ahead of her.
Griffyn Young – 2021 5’4 Point Guard Plano West HS – Young is a pass first point guard with a great feel for the game. She makes winning plays for her teams with accurate passes and smart decisions whenever she steps on the court. Her basketball savvy is very noticeable. The junior guard is a scrappy defender as well.
Katy Wade – 2021 5’5 Shooting Guard Plano West HS – The junior two-guard possesses solid speed and quickness with the ball. She makes timely cuts off the ball, but she also has the ability to score off the dribble with hesitation moves. Wade knocked down a pair of catch and shoot threes too, exhibiting that she is a well-rounded scorer.
Tyler Jackson – 2020 5’8 Combo Guard/Wing (DFW Elite EYBL) Allen HS – The Louisiana Tech commit plays downhill offensively. She had a bit of an off-shooting night from distance, but she still managed to do a lot of damage on the interior as a slasher and as a passer with numerous fast break assists. Furthermore, Jackson is a fierce defender on and off the ball, coming up with multiple steals and blocks vs. the Wolves.
Zoe Jackson – 2021 5’7 Point Guard Allen HS – Jackson operates as the primary ball handler for Allen. She had a big second quarter Tuesday night, finishing high off the glass on her drives to the basket and displaying a solid pull-up jumper from the free throw line. The junior floor general can light it up offensively when she gets in a rhythm.
Chelsea Okusagah – 2021 5’9 Power Forward Allen HS – Okusagah really came alive in the second half of this matchup. Her playmaking at both ends helped keep Allen within striking distance. She uses her long strides to get to the hole for easy buckets and has a nose for getting steals when playing defense off the ball. The junior had great night scoring in transition.
