Here are the top girls basketball players from a week ago in New Jersey.
Leianya Massenat (2020) | Trenton
Massenat has been one of the top scorers in New Jersey all season long. She is averaging 27.3 points per game during her senior season. She continued this with another strong week. Massenat scored 38 points in a win over Hamilton West last week. She followed that up with 31 points in a big win over Hightstown.
Jade-Dee Tolentino (2020) | Memorial
Tolentino turned in three big time performances last week. It began with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals against Union City. She then notched a double-double with 24 points and 10 rebounds against Harrison. Tolentino proved she was for real when she scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds against Hudson Catholic.
Caitlin Gresko (2021) | Howell
Gresko has scord double-figures in seven straight games. She continued her streak with a season-high 26 points in a loss to Jackson Memorial. She finished the week with 20 points against Long Branch and 10 in a win over Mater Dei. She has been a scoring machine this season for Howell and it has been much needed.
Ziara Spence (2020) | Salem
Spence is scoring 15.6 points per game this season for Salem. She went for 25 points in a game against Bridgeton to begin her week. She followed that up with 14 points against Woodstown and 17 against Camden. Spence has been putting the ball in the basket no matter who the opponent is. She is one of the best scorers in the Tri-County Conference.
Maddison Vaughn (2021) | Roselle
Vaughn is averaging 12.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, and five blocks per game as a junior. She notched the first triple-double of her career last week against Somerset Tech. Vaughn finished with 16 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 blocks to accomplish the feat.
