Here are the top performances from last week:
McKenna Becher, West Fargo
The Packers are still fighting for a top-four spot in the EDC and they went 1-1 last week with a huge win and an equally frustrating loss. The loss to Devils Lake is frustrating because the Packers held a lead, but they backed it up with a terrific win over West Fargo Sheyenne, securing a season sweep of the Mustangs. The constant in both those games was senior forward McKenna Becher. Becher scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds dished out three assists and recorded three steals while knocking down 11 free throws in the win over the Mustangs. Becher was terrific in the loss to the Firebirds too, scoring 28 points and grabbing eight rebounds.
Alexis Dressler, Bismarck Legacy
Bismarck Legacy all but locked up a WDA title last week when they beat Bismarck Century for the second time. In a game requiring their best, the Sabers got it from their best player, Alexis Dressler. The senior forward scored 20 points, grabbed six rebounds, blocked two shots 14-12-5 in loss to Minot, 20-6-2 and two blocks in win over Century. The Sabers suffered their first loss of the year earlier in the week against Minot, though Dressler was solid in that effort too, scoring 14 points, grabbing 12 rebounds and dishing out five assists.
Olivia Passa, Velva
The Aggies finished the regular season on a four-game losing streak. You would’ve never known it with how they played in the District 11 Tournament, where they won three games in three days to advance to the Region 6 Tournament. The key player was freshman win Emma Passa, who led the team in scoring in the wins over Nedrose and Westhope/Newburg with 10 and 11 points. She saved her best for the showdown with Rugby, which the Aggies won 42-36, where she scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and played a big part in a lockdown defensive effort.
Kiera Eli, Carrington
Eli has enjoyed a breakout senior season and she’s showing no signs of slowing down. Eli knocked down six 3-pointers on her way to a 20-point effort in a win over Thompson to end the regular season. Then she buried four 3-pointers in a 16-point night in a win over Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier in the first round of the District 5 Tournament.
