With district and region races heating up, teams are ideally hitting their peaks and playing their best ball. With big games occurring on almost a nightly basis, there are opportunities for teams to stack together quality wins at every turn.
Here are last week’s top teams:
Kindred
The Vikings continue to steamroll the competition, winning twice last week to improve to 14-0 on the year. Kindred beat Milnor/North Sargent by 33 points on Friday night. The big win of the week came on Saturday where in a matchup we could see in the state tournament, the Vikings beat a ranked Thompson team by 17, getting excellent performances from Abby Duchsherer and Terryn Johnson.
Heart River
After starting the year 4-4, Heart River has won nine games in a row and in doing so, have matched last year’s win total of 13. Last week, the Cougars earned tough wins over New England and Beach, winning twice by a combined eight points.
Devils Lake
The Firebirds are in excellent position to secure another EDC regular season title. Three wins last week including two in league should go a long way towards the feat being realized. Devils Lake opened the week with a blowout win over Fargo South before beating Fargo Shanley, 70-66. Jes Mertens and Jailyn Martinson have been excellent all season and were terrific in that win especially. The Firebirds ended the week on a high note, blowing out a solid Minot team.
Bismarck
After a week in which the Demons lost to the two top teams in the WDA, Bismarck rebounded in a big way with wins over Minot and Dickinson. Payton Gerving and Elle Hill were terrific in the win over the Magicians, combining for 29 points on 19 shots with nine rebounds and seven assists. The Demons currently sit 10-5 on the year and have a shot at a top-four spot in the WDA.
