McDonogh vs. St. Vincent Pallotti
These two teams played two close games with Pallotti prevailing in both games against the young Eagles. I expect another close game this time too.
Eniya Russell, Senior, Pallotti
Eniya is a South Carolina recruit and will be playing in the McDonald’s All American Game this spring. This is a game where she needs to separate herself from the opening tip and bring the heat. Her tendency to walk the ball up the court and allow the defense to set up should be a non factor in this game. She should be out to make a statement and propel her team into the championship game.
Larri Sydnor, Senior, Pallotti
This is a chance for Larri to end her senior season in a positive way. The Norfolk State recruit has the tools to impact the game on both ends of the court. As a physical six foot post player, she can help the Panthers bring home a championship if she can crash the boards, catch and finish in the paint, and stay out of foul trouble.
Jayla Oden, Junior, McDonogh
Jayla has the Eagles playing some excellent ball to end the season. They are young but they have not played scared to this point. Playoff pressure will mount, and Ms.Oden has to keep herself and the team composed as they try to return to the top of the IAAM. Jayla will have do whatever her team needs, either scoring or facilitating, and she has shown that ability to this point.
Nekhu Mitchell, Sophomore, McDonogh
Nekhu is a versatile player and her scoring and rebounding will be needed for McDonogh to finish this run in style. Look for her to make some timely plays around the basket when her team is in need.
Roland Park vs. St. Frances
Sophia Diehl, Junior, Roland Park
When the defense sags in the paint to take Mir Mclean out of the game some other Reds will have to step up and knock down shots. Sophia would be the obvious choice as she is an excellent perimeter shooter and can handle the ball. She transferred in from Westminster for a chance to be in this situation.
Daimoni Dorsey, Sophomore, St. Frances
Daimoni is an underrated shooter and she will need to come up big at some point in these playoffs. If her team gets into foul trouble or defenses start to pay too much attention to Angel Reese, there will be opportunities. She has shot the ball well in the games that I have seen this season so let’s see if she can continue to make an impact.
