Luezinger was First-Team and Player of the Year in her conference as a junior. Having a breakout 2019-2020 season while also breaking multiple school records is Black Hawk senior, Natalie Leuzinger. The 5’9 guard has helped lead her team to an undefeated season, and top of the Six Rivers- East conference. She can easily be considered a combo guard- she has the ability to use a quick first step to get by a defender or knock down a long range shot.
Leuzinger is second in the entire conference in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game. Just two points in front of her is teammate and UW-Parkside commit Hannah Butler. The two work excellently off eachother. Having two players that can score the ball so well creates opportunity for other attributes to shine. Leuzinger developed into quite the playmaker this season, she really finds her teammates well and has a great court vision.
Natalie Leuzinger opened up her senior campaign scoring a team-high 19 points on 7-15 from the field. She also had 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Leuzinger took over the game and it was clear she was a player to watch closely as the season went on. Shortly after the opener came more accomplishments from Leuzinger. She scored 23 points in a tough win over Marshall and had a season-high 28 points in a win over Melrose- Mindoro. In the win over Melrose- Mindoro, Leuzinger showed her range from the three-point line. She was 4-5, 80% from the three point line this game. Leuzinger has averaged 40% from the three point line this season.
In a win over Barneveld on January 21st, Leuzinger scored 18 points. However, it wouldn’t be the18 points that she remembers most. It was during a free-throw shot that the Black Hawk students, parents and players stood, clapped and congratulated as Leuzinger made the basket. It was at that moment that she became the All-Time Leading Scorer in Girls Basketball at Black Hawk High School. She had reached 1581 points during this game and she was now the new record holder.
Shortly thereafter came another special game for Leuzinger. In a win at Albany, Leuzinger scored 15 points and had 10 rebounds. This game puts her career-total at 1,663. Now, Leuzinger has another reason to celebrate.
She has become the All-Time leading scorer in Black Hawk basketball history. She has officially passed Black Hawk boys basketball standout Conner Meyer.
Leuzinger is a crafty guard with an incredibly soft touch to her shot and a nice pull up jumper. She will be a key player in her teams run into March, looking to defend their state title. Leuzinger has quite the resume during her time at Black Hawk. She is committed as a preferred walk on at University of Wisconsin.
