At 5’10, Artis is a relentless performer who knows how to get to her spot, takes pride in sharing the ball generously and knows how to connect from the perimeter.
Artis spent the offseason playing with Lady KC Run GMC and competed in tournaments across the country.
“Our team is successful, although we have our games where we could improve,” Artis said. “Run GMC has prepared me very well by having workouts and “one on one” training, but they have also prepared me mentally by providing constant motivation and tips on things I can improve for High School ball.”
After winning the Kansas 4A state championship last year, Miege is off to a 12-2 start to the season and appears poised for a big postseason push once again.
“I feel that I have been beneficial to the team by sharing the ball and also taking my shots when open and/or when an opportunities to score arises,” Artis says.
Gabi says her sister, Elena Artis, introduced her to basketball at a young age and has since become a fan of NBA standout Klay Thompson.
“Since my sister, Elena Artis, got me into basketball at a young age I have always loved the game,” Gabi says. “My other influencer is NBA player Klay Thompson. I enjoy watching him play because we are very similar by both being shooting guards.”
A fan of college basketball, Artis says she wants to take that step as a player and has spent time learning how the game is played at the next level.
“If I want to take that next step I have to know the tempo and the way things are in college,” she said. “I take those things that I see and apply them to my game by trying moves in practice and training.
“I believe that it is very important to study the ‘flow’ of college basketball now, in order to properly prepare myself and ultimately push myself towards that level of play in the near future.”
