Continue ReadingWith the release of the latest PGH Colorado rankings update for the 2020 class on Monday, a dozen new players joined the rankings. Some have emerged through excellent senior campaigns, others are popping up at smaller schools that receive less exposure or have been injured this season, and many of them probably should have already been in the rankings to begin with.
Here are six seniors who entered the PGH Colorado rankings on Monday, and where they’re at with the bulk of their final prep seasons in the books.
Carolyn Ho, 5-8, SF, Ponderosa
Ho has been limited by injury this season, but that does not diminish her talent. Already signed to play basketball at Willamette University, Ho is the driving force for Ponderosa when she’s on the court and is a true floor general. As a junior, she averaged five points, 3.9 assists, four rebounds, 3.4 steals per game. She is putting up similar numbers as a senior, but has only played in eight games. The Mustangs are hoping to have their senior captain healthy and back in the starting lineup when the postseason begins in a little over a week.
Ho enters the PGH Colorado 2020 rankings at No. 57.
Sara Geddes, 6-0, PF, Delta
Headed for Colorado Mesa next season, Geddes is a force in the paint and has been dominant when available this season. The senior power forward is averaging 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.3 blocks in the dozen games she has played. Geddes played her best game of the season to date on Jan. 11 when she posted a double-double against Hotchkiss with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Geddes enters the 2020 rankings at No. 65.
Calaiya Vickles
Calaiya Vickles, 5-9, SF, Arvada West
Vickles has really taken a step forward this season and has been one of the most pleasant surprises in Colorado. She was a solid all-around player for A-West as a junior and has simply continued to do everything, only a little bit better, for the Wildcats this winter. Vickles is averaging 7.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists and two steals per game and will look to pace her young-but-emerging squad on what the Wildcats hope is a successful postseason run.
Vickles enters the rankings at No. 72.
Kyan Jost, 5-11, PF, Heritage
Signed to play basketball at Tabor College, Jost is finishing out her high school career on a strong note though the Heritage Eagles have struggled to a 2-20 record. Jost leads the team with 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and nearly a block per game.
Jost enters the rankings at No. 81.
Alyssa Remy, 5-3, SG, The Academy
Remy will hit the NAIA level next season, as she is signed with Hastings College. So far as a senior, the 5-foot-3 guard is putting up 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals per game for unbeaten The Academy (18-0) with the postseason looming. Remy may not lead the team in any particular category, but she is a critical glue player for the Wildcats.
Remy is now ranked No. 82 in the 2020 class.
Abigail Russo
Abigail Russo, 5-9, SG, Monarch
Russo is another player who has battled some injuries and thus been unavailable for portions of the 2019-20 season. But when she’s on the floor, the 5-foot-9 senior is a difference-maker for the Coyotes. She leads her team in scoring with 10.1 points per game but also averages 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game while giving the Coyotes a much-needed threat from the perimeter, where she shoots 31 percent.
Russo is ranked No. 85 in the 2020 class.
