I always mention Rori Harmon and Kyndall Hunter are one of the nations top backcourts and I always add I called both #D1Locks in elementary school because just like working on your game on the court, you have to be repetitive, especially in this era off of the court so the team took their show on the road and captured the Mansfield Spring Creek Classic as well
Cy Creek starts off the 6A action at 5:30 against Heights at the Merrell Center and Heights is coming off of a long-range shooting exhibition from Gracelynn Alvarez who dropped 4 from bta before I left at the half. The thing that impressed me, even more, was the points that came from their supporting cast, especially Aaliyah Maciias, and Jada Beasley, not to mention the players off the bench and they are going to need that and more to just be in the game with that high powered offense that they’re going to face. The Morgan Hill vs Tiera Simon match-up will be key as well as the Taylor Jones against Sincere Roberts but expect the heavy hitters to get theirs, this may come down to the role players
The sad part about this is that the winner of that game will play the Summer Creek vs Beaumont United and I did not expect United to be here and I don’t expect them to beat SC, even though I haven’t seen them but again, this has been another of those expect the unexpected seasons and should United pull it off, I’ll catch them Friday, however, Maliyah Johnson, Mailyn Wilkerson, Alayia Francis, Kaitlyn Duhon, and Adaora Nwokeji and the rest are just on a mission and that MISSION from Tyanna Sherman off the bench tells e that getting out of here again isn’t IMPOSSIBLE.
On the other side of the bracket, you have Ridgepoint against Cy Fair, Raven Adams and the crew have been cruising along so far in the playoffs but the heroics from Amanda Turpin in the last two wins has the Bobcats as another team I didn’t see being here but then again, Coach Ann Robique has been to more regionals than times I’ve been married, and that’s nine, and she was going before the Ogwumike era, bet ya didn’t know that but I have a PETABYTE of information from almost 20 years of watching girls basketball, not to be confused with the PETTINESS of these adults trying to BITE each other on the butts in “club basketball”, it’s NOT AAU
I also didn’t see Pearland knocking off Atascocita but had I known Elyssa Coleman wasn’t playing, would have ruled it a toss-up but Deyona Gaston and her explosiveness on the offensive end will have to be ready to let off a loud boom because Clear Springs looked like the old days where the defense was so hot, I was sweating watching them trap and play the passing lanes. Kylie Minter and Kenna Gibson, two of the states best sophomore guard tandems were mixing it up offensively while Niyah Johnson vs Gaston should be interesting as well as D’Nae Johnson and Blaise Blair who are not ready for their high school careers to end
