Raven Adams, pound for pound, inch for inch, is one of the top point guards in the junior class and when you add the improvement of fellow juniors, Dala Allen and Aleighyah Fontenot, well that’s their Big Three offensively but hold your horses, senior Marchelle Willis is still one of the areas best long ball shooters and recently her steal and assist to Adams at the buzzer helped seal first place in district. Adams recently went over the 500 assist mark while Fontenot eclipsed the 1000 point mark and yet here they are, attempting to reach their schools’ first-ever regional semifinal
Ridgepoint opens tomorrow against Seven Lakes and the winner of that game will play the winner of the Bellaire vs Jersey Village matchup which will place whomever in the Elite 8. I caught a glimpse of Seven Lakes and watched Ashton Poth, Sarah Narum and Daniela Alzate put in work but I was there for only a quarter. I do know that Addison Poth was out with an injury, not sure if she’s back and I also know Seven Lakes has made it to a regional semifinal before, back in 2013 was the latest
In order to keep it real, I have to admit I haven’t seen Tompkins but I do know they have Loghan Johnson and Flyin Adelye, a couple of the states top freshmen and also a couple of players I said were #D1Locks before their first middle school games. Johnson can do just about everything on the offensive side while Adelye is a force to be reckoned with on the inside and one of their other players, Crystal Smith, left a lasting first impression over the summer so I’m assuming those are their Big Three but I’ll see for myself tomorrow as I head back to Katy for some action, Tompkins by the way was a regional semifinalis in 2016
Tonight I’ll drive an hour to the Merrell Center to watch LaGrange vs Wharton, thoughts of Marvin Zindler pop into my head and I’m certain no one will catch that and in the nightcap, I’ll catch Navasota vs Fulshear, heard a lot about both squads so I’m down for whatever and wherever the action is, I love DOUBLEHEADERS, so as I close with a tribute to MZ, Simmie Colson, Girlz Prep Report a
