Wins favored the DAK12 conference 7-3, but the NE Conference held up well. Hamlin’s Chargers topped off the day, winning by one point over the Tea Area Titans, in a match characterized by the Chargers’ paint power versus the active BB athletes from Tea Area.
An awesome conclusion to a PGH discovery day – when un-expected progress delights the observer. It’s like finding buried treasure when you turn the corner and SHAZAM!! you spot a skilled baller, whose dedicated work is paying off for her team and for herself.
PGH believes the Class of 2023 holds a notable surplus in college prospects, including the freshmen below. Who will sustain the work ethic, improve, and merit collegiate attention?
Emma Yost (2023/6’0) – Parkston – Dazzled with 14 first-half points, made on strong post putbacks and pivot techniques. SD Attack will add shine to this gold nugget.
West Central defends versus ParkstonAmanda Lease (2025/5’5) – Canton – scorer and floor general for the C-Hawks rebuild. Year One tracking well for new coach Greg Shoultz. Lease will make major impressions in Year 3 and beyond, along with Canton.
Tabor Teel (2022/5’9) – Tri Valley -Teel ran all over the court making plays, an obvious team leader, scorer, and inflicted mayhem upon Deuel.
Young Clark Guards Work Past VermillionJada Burke (2023/5’8) – Clark/WL – Active all over the floor, with good handles and BB IQ.
Alicia Vig (2023/5’6) – Clark/WL – Confident ball skills, and a mean streak on defense, promise a ambitious future, and CWL successes.
Leah Herbster (2023/5’11) – Vermillion – Raw athlete learning fast, vertical might go above 30-inches, great anticipation, and footwork. Expect a breakout season ahead.
Maurina Street (2023/5’9) – Milbank – Rapid progress in shooting, rebounding, and defending 1-on-1. Summer ball growth beckons.
Rylee Rosenquist (2022/5’9) – Dakota Valley – She is much more than a VB player, doing an out-of-season sport. Foot dexterity goes with VB training, but opportunistic movements, passing, and defense surely denote both an athlete and a baller.
Grace Bass (2022/5’7) – Dakota Valley – Fearless attacker into the middle, showing nice handles and court awareness. Forced the defense to stop her, allowing lanes and passes for buckets. Bass is an agile, darting menace at both ends.
Gracie Traphagen (2023/5’11) – Groton – Team needs her inside, but outside she’d florish, opening her full array of enhanced fundamentals. No ceiling bumped yet. Nice glimpse of D1-bound hoopster.
Groton and Elk PointLily Kempf ( 2020/5’9)- Elk Point/Jefferson -31 points caught the eye. Earned primarily off presses & transitions which exploited young ball handlers on the Groton Tigers.
Rylee Haldeman (2022/5’2) – West Central – Always able to change gears instantly, always to her advantage, and ever elusive, Haldemann’s instinctive
Madelyn Bragg (2022/6’1) – Roncalli – The reason SDSU coach Jewett talked to Derek Larsen after the game IS the staggering potential of Bragg. She went head-to-head with strength and confidence against Vlastuin, the SDSU commit.
Lennox-Aberdeen Roncalli might meet again in MarchKellie Karst (2020/6’1) – Sisseton – Buried five trey’s, 3 of 5 in first quarter to total 17-pts. 40+%. Her breathing or health obviously limited this spectacular display; a dangerous sharpshooter who boards strong inside.
Hailey Nelson (2022/5’6) –Sisseton – Impressive energy and floor vision, running the offense, spurring the win. She had 17-pts as well.
Kami Wadsworth (2023/5’9) – Hamlin – Five Star player with elite athleticism. The Wadsworth family must be genetic outliers, giving us three remarkable phenoms.
Logan Keszler Rebounds Versus Tea AreaGame results:
Hamlin swapped the lead with Tea to the end. The better team won, with the Wadsworth sisters, the Abraham sisters, Prouty, and Keszler pushing tempo and cleaning up the boards..
Madison wastes opportunities (23 of 43 FT’s) & loses in OT to Sisseton.
Lennox’s Vlastuin & Fillipi simply score better than Roncalli’s youngsters. Both go to SODAK 16.
Elk Point/Jefferson with 31-pts from Lily Kempf overcomes Groton & Gracie Traphagen’s elite skills.
Parkston hangs with West Central for the first half until Haldemann asserted her will.
SF Christian’s height blankets Milbank’s youth movement.
Dakota Valley’s BB toddlers fall to Redfield’s seniors & Addy Rozell’s dominance.
Dell Rapids pulled ahead of Tiospa Zina Wanbdi.
Vermillion & Lexi Plitzuweit schooled Clark/Willow Lake & the Vig sisters on transition offense.
Canton Gains First WIn over Webster.
Deuel Held Down by Tri-Valley’s pressure defense., spearheaded by Taylor Teel.
