For the Shore, they are prepared to enter round one. These are the top players to watch as the first round approaches.
Anyssa Fields | Long Branch
Fields has had one of the most impressive statistical seasons in the Shore. She is averaging 18.2 points and 12.8 rebounds per game this season. Fields has notched 16 double-doubles including a 27 point, 18 rebound performance against Brick. Long Branch is 15-4 overall this season. They will have Southern in round one and they will have their hands full with Fields.
Sammy Jay | Marlboro
Jay has been one of the leaders for Marlboro all season long. She is not the top scorer on the team, but she is an effort player that holds the offense together. Jay is averaging 11.6 points and 4.2 assists per contest. On defense, she is a difference maker with over three steals per game. Marlboro will face Jackson Memorial in the first round and Jay will be a key as they avoid an upset.
Leah Nolan | Holmdel
Holmdel will have Mater Dei in the first round and they will be favorites. Nolan will be a reason why. She is scoring 11.8 points per game and grabbing 4.5 rebounds. Holmdel is a dark-horse team entering the first round. They will enter as the No. 11 seed but they are a team that can upset some higher numbers.
Brooke Hollawell | Manasquan
Manasquan will be the highest seed playing in the first round at No. 6. Hollawell has been a leader all season long for the team. She is averaging 12.8 points per game. Hollawell has scored in double-figures 17 times this season including a season-high 29 in a win over Marlboro. Manasquan will square off with Henry Hudson and will be expected to make easy work.
Taylor Crystian | Red Bank Regional
Red Bank is having a great season led by Crystian. They are 17-4 overall and will look to keep their hot streak going in the conference tournament. They will have Lacey in round one. Crystian will need to continue her level of play if they want to make a run. She is averaging 13.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.
Kristina Johnson | Toms River North
Toms River North will enter as the 15th seed. Theywill have the most even matchup on paper in round one against No. 18 Middletown South. Johnson will need to have a big game for 14-6 Toms River North. She is scoring 14.2 points per game to lead her team this season. This will be a tight game down the stretch and Johnson will have to break out some of her big play ability.
Kayla Richardson | Middletown South
The player who will have to deal with Johnson is Richardson. She is the leader for Middletown South. Richardson is averaging 14.2 points and 6.9 rebounds per game this season. Middletown South will enter this game as a slight underdog but this is right there for them to steal.
