Christina Dalce (2021) | Rutgers Prep
Rutgers Prep has been one of the top teams in the state this season at 19-4. They are the No. 1 seed and have not played a game yet. They had the luxury of a double-bye which will help them even further. Dalce has been the selling point. She is averaging 14.4 points and 10 rebounds per game. Dalce is also blocking three shots per game. Rutgers Prep is the favorite to win this tournament and Dalce is the reason why.
Keona Schenck (2020) | Franklin
Franklin is the another of four teams that received a double-bye in this tournament. They are the No. 2 seed and set up to play Rutgers Prep in the title game if all goes right. Schenck has been an elite scorer in the conference all season. She is scoring 17.5 points per game and has done it in a variety of ways. She has knocked down 40 three’s this season and gets to the free throw line at a high rate where she has hit a team-leading 78 shots.
Mahogany Jenkins (2020) | Watchung Hills
Watchung Hills is the third-seed in the tournament and has yet to play a game just yet. Jenkins is their x-factor because she has gotten it done in many ways. Jenkins is averaging 10 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. She also leads the team in blocks and steals. The ability to change a game on both sides of the floor is something that is extremely valuable. That is what Jenkins can do when she steps on the floor.
Caileigh Walsh (2021) | Gill St. Bernard’s
The Class of 2021 is well represented in Somerset County and Walsh is another example of that. She is a talented forward who has dominated down low. Walsh is averaging 18.8 points, 11,7 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks per game. She is a game changer. Gill St. Bernard’s has nine losses on the season but they have played a very tough schedule. Led by Walsh, they could be a threat to Rutgers Prep in the semi-finals if they meet.
Sophie Beneventine (2020) | Ridge
Ridge needed a big fourth quarter to escape in the second round. They will take on Gill St. Bernard’s in the quarters. The scoring for Ridge is very balanced but Beneventine led the way with 13 points. This was after scoring 24 points in a regular season matchup with Morris Catholic. Ridge held a slim one-point lead over Immaculata in the second round. Ridge outscored Immaculata 13-5 in the final period led by Beneventine.
Cameron Ward (2020) | Bound Brook
Ward is averaging 12.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game this season. She did not have a strong game in round two against Somerville. She finished with five points and five rebounds in what ended up being a three-point victory. Bound Brook will need Ward to step up moving forward and that is something she is capable of doing. Ward is an elite shooter and thief on defense. She is a great No. 1 option to have for a team looking to make a run.
Natalie Mathern (2021) | Mount St. Mary
Mount St. Mary is the No. 7 seed in this tournament and is set up for a battle with Franklin in the quarterfinals. They got to this point by taking down Bridgewater-Raritan 54-45. Mathern led the way with 17 points and six rebounds. She has been the team’s leading scorer all season long and she will need to have a huge effort against Franklin.
Andrea Katramados (2021) | Montgomery
Montgomery is the only remaining team that has played two games in the tournament. In those games, Katramados has finished in double-figures. In a blowout victory of Somerset Tech, she finished with 14 points and followed that up with 20 points in a nine-point victory over Hillsborough. Katramados is scoring 12 points per game during her junior campaign.
