National Christian Academy played their first home game of the season albeit at the Merrick Recreation Center in D.C. The game was quite entertaining as the #2 team in the DMV and arch rival Riverdale Baptist School were in the building. The Crusaders came out the gate quickly but only led by five 15-10 after the first quarter after NCA’s Kaila Creek knocked down a couple of three pointers. At the half the Crusaders were still up with a 25-21 lead.
The second half became a three point shoot out as Creek and Elizabeth Martino started trading three pointers and the others started getting into the act. The third quarter ended in a one point Riverdale Baptist lead 39-38, the fourth quarter, however, started off with yet another three by the Eagles this time by Ciara Harris who had a game high 22 points giving NCA their first lead. In the end it was a rebound putback by Kayla Thomas and a free throw by Kaylah Ivey with 1.5 seconds to play that gave Riverdale Baptist the 51-50 victory.

Sarah Austin – 5’7″ – Guard – National Christian Academy – 2021

Jalyn was the game’s leading scorer after the first period scoring six points in the quarter. She finished with 7 points but, her value was most felt on the defensive end as she used her length to disrupt the Eagles offense.
Kaila Creek – 5’10” – Wing – National Christian School – 2020
Kaila CreekKaila seems to have made two successful transitions. First she is 100% back from a knee injury that sidelined her last season. Secondly she has made the move from post to perimeter flawlessly. She knocked down dig shot after big shot throughout the game finishing with 14 points.
