D3 Sectionals @ Fairfield High School
Saturday, February 15
#6 Norwood vs #13 Madeira 11:00- The sixth-seeded Norwood squad brings in a solid 16-5 record as they look to advance deep into the tournament. Maria Velazco leads the way with a 13.7 points per game average, and the junior is joined by sophomore Destiny Rice who is right at 13 points. To advance they will have to defeat an 8-12 Madeira squad led by junior Carly Scott, averaging 14.1 points per game. The winner of that game will play #12 Clark Montessori, who is 9-11 and took the opening round bye. Montessori is led by 5-1 senior Mikaela Johnson averaging 10.7, while Zion Wright averaging 10.2, and she is a 5-3 senior.
#20 Reading vs #4 Bethel-Tate 12:30- Reading looks to improve on a 4-16 record at the draw with the upset, and brings in senior My’Ajia Anderson-Little who is averaging 7.7 points per game. Bethel-Tate is 16-4, and have four kids who look to produce offensively including 5-9 senior Taylor Bee, averaging 11.9 points, 5-7 senior Grace White is at 9.9 points, Alli Stolz is a 6-foot junior averaging 9.6 and 6-1 senior Madison Burton comes in at 8.2 points per game. St. Bernard awaits the winner of this game, as the #16 seed also took a bye in the opening round. They do have a couple of key players to key on with 5-8 senior Lauryn Brown averaging 17.3 points, and Kashauna Margon whois a 5-9 senior at 9.6.
#3 Williamsburg vs #19 Riverview East 2:00- While Riverview East is a team looking to prove themselved with an 8-3 record and 19 seed, it will be Williamsburg who brings in a lot of firepower. Kiana Duave is a 5-6 junior averaging 15.5 points, Kirstyn Thomas is a 5-6 junior scoring 10.1 and Madi Ogden is a 5-7 junior scoring at 8.9 points. Whoever wins this opening round match will have to face James Gamble, as the #17 seed is also a team with a winning record at 9-6.
Tuesday, February 18
#5 Mariemont vs #8 Ripley Union Lewis– Both teams took a bye in the opening round of the sectionals, so they matchup in teh second round with the winners advancing into the finals. Mariemont is traditionally strong and this year is no exception, as they are 16-4 overall. Kendale Dewey leads the way as the 5-5 senior is scoring 12.7 points per game. Alivia Naticchioni is a 5-7 senior also scoring at a tate of 6.6 per game. Kendal Spreen is only a freshman, but the 5-7 guard is averaging 6.0.
