The big talk at this sectional was Carroll, who was the top-seeded team, was moved out of the Tecumseh sectional to compete with this group. We will see how it all works out over the next ten days.

Thursday, February 13
#13 Thurgood Marshall vs #1 Carroll 6:00- Thurgood Marshall drew the lowest seed and has to compete with the Patriots, the defending state runner-up with four starters back. They are led by 5-10 senior Julia Keller along with playmaking point guard Allie Stefanek and 5-9 junior sharpshooter Megan Leraas. Sarah Ochs is a kid who has emerged into a solid contributor also for Carroll. The winner will play Brookville who took a first round bye. They are led by 6-2 Malerie Ross and are a program who looks to get back to the former success.
#5 Bishop Fenwick vs #9 Stivers 7:30- Fenwick was a very balanced team this year, with their leading scorer Emily Adams (6-0 junior) averaging just under ten. She is a solid fundamental post player who is productive at the rim with good footwork. Hannah Beckman is a 5-7 senior who also is a quality leader and has stepped up this year when needed. The winner of this game will play Hamilton Badin, the #4 seed who took a bye. Like Fenwick, they are a balanced squad led by sophomore Jada Pohlen, a 5-9 guard who stepped up in some big games this year.
Saturday, February 15
#7 Oakwood vs #10 Hamilton Ross 11:00- Oakwood dealt with injuries this season including to their top returning player Margie Conrath, who only played six games. Kylie Neff is a 5-10 senior who is a solid defender and physical kid who can get things done. She leads the team with a 10.5 average, but also watch for 5-4 sophomore Olivia Grant and 5-5 senior point guard Kylie Foos, who will play her college basketball at Wittenberg. Ross struggled to a four win season so far, and have a problem scoring averaging only 26 points per game. Their top player is 5-7 sophomore Veronica Allen who comes in at five points per game. The winner of this game will play #2 seed Valley View, who is loaded throughout their lineup. Led by 5-10 senior Aubrey Stupp (headed to PFW), along with juniors Abigail Dickson (5-5 PG), Lauren Legate (5-10 Forward), Claire Henson, a sophomore who has blossomed into one of the area’s best, along with freshmen to watch Riley Hodson and Ellie Reed.
#11 Clinton Massie vs #3 Chaminade Julienne 12:30- While Massie has won three games this season, CJ has put together a very solid season. Senior Staci Greene, a 5-8 guard headed to Lake Erie, can open a game from the perimeter, and get to the rim. They are senior loaded with Courtney Redd, Jordyn Varise and Eve Monaghan. All three can produce and make the Eagles dangerous.
#6 Alter vs #8 Dunbar 2:00- The Knights look to regain their strong history and it all starts with a tournament win. Karlie Romer is a 5-10 sophomore who is a good all around player and leads the team at 8 points per game. Caraline Kernan is another sophomore who is a smart player who can score in different ways. Solid 5-7 guard. A couple of other key players to watch are Lauren Miller (5-7 junior) and Sara Reis (5-8 junior). Dunbar is an athletic team with several weapons. 5-10 sophomore Briyanna Combs and 5-8 senior Samaria Brown are both among the top players in the City League.
