Middleton –
Record 19-1
The number one team in the state is Middleton. Coming from the Big Eight conference, one of the toughest in the state Middleton has faced high competition this year. Middleton is an all around team with players who do all the little things right. They see each other well and play with a lot of experience.
Sitori Tanin | Senior
Leading the team all across the board is Sitori Tanin. Tanin leads Middleton in points, rebounds and assists. The 6’2 senior forward is averaging 14.8 points, 11 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. She is one of the best post players I’ve watched this season. At her size, Tanin displays so much athleticism. She has also become super versatile this season and defends multiple positions each game. Averaging a double-double each game, Tanin is a clear leader and competitor on the floor. In a win over Madison East, Tanin scored 28 points, grabbed 19 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Tanin is committed to Loyola University.
Karina Bursac | Senior
The 5’11 forward plays exceptionally well alongside Tanin. She has a rare combination of size and athleticism inside the paint. She can step outside and hit the jumper. Bursac has really developed her handles this season and will definitely attack the paint from outside. She delivers scoring, rebounding and rim protecting each game. Bursac averages 9.3 points and 6 rebounds per game. She has been consistent all season and a key role player in her teams success. Bursac scored a season-high 16 points in a win over Edgewood.
Madison Memorial
Record 18-1
Arguably the fastest team in the state, Madison Memorial plays an extremely up-tempo game. They run the floor well and see each other easily in transition. The spartans play in your face defense the entire game and fluster teams with their full court pressure. They average 77.3 points per game as a team and have only one loss against Middleton.
LeiLani Kapinus | Senior
The number one player in the state and Penn State recruit, Kapinus is averaging 17.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. The most versatile player I’ve watched this season Kapinus is so difficult to stop. She runs transition well and knows her spots on the floor. Kapinus is extremely athletic on both ends of the floor. She has a smooth shot beyond the arc but can also fly by defenders on offense. The 5’11 guard scored the gaming winning point in a recent one point win over a tough Milwaukee King team. Kapinus scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a win in a Florida Holiday Tournament.
Daiysha Brown | Senior
A true playmaker for Memorial is 5’8 guard. She has fantastic court vision and finds her scorers with ease. She’s quick defensively and plays pressure defense the entire game. Averaging 6 points per game, Brown has become the top facilitator for Memorial. However, Brown can easily take over any game. In a one- point win over a top Milwaukee King squad, Brown scored 11 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Brown was also the player to assist the game winning shot by Kapinus. Brown is committed to Grayson College.
Bay Port
Record 20-1
Leading the Fox River Conference is Bay Port. Averaging 61 points per game, Bay Port plays with patience and structure. The team sees a lot of points off of offensive rebounds and their good shooting percentage. They have an experienced roster and have had many victories over competitive teams this season.
McKenzie Johnson | Senior
Leading her team to yet another successful season, Johnson is averaging 14.4 points per game for Bay Port. She is a lightning quick guard with a smooth pull up jumper. She has excellent handles and a pure scorers mentality. At 5’5 Johnson plays with so much energy and is a clear leader on the floor. In a win over Manitowoc Lincoln, Johnson scored her season- high 23 points. A relentless guard who will give 100% the entire game, she is a fun player to watch. Johnson averages 32 minutes per game.
Emma Krueger | Sophomore
A 5’7 guard who has been essential in the success of her team this season. Krueger has really stepped up as a role player for her team this season. She is quick offensively and can catch and shoot anywhere on the court. She also has a lot of range and can be very successful beyond the arc. She averaged 11 points per game and took over in a win over Ashwaubenon with 25 points.
Germantown
Record 18-2
Averaging 74 points per game, Germantown has the deepest bench I’ve seen this season. A roster full of skilled basketball players who could take over any night. However, they are all exceptionally individually skilled but play even better as a team. An undersized team who makes up for it with their up-tempo offense and gritty defense.
Kamorea Arnold | Freshman
The 5’8 guard is the best underclassmen in the state. She is a true scorer and understands the game so well. She is averaging 16.5 points and 5 assists per game. Arnold plays with the most patience and poised I’ve seen in the class of 2023. She is incredibly versatile and does it all offensively. She is incredibly impressive with crafty dribbling that gets her past any defender. Arnold holds offers from over ten Division 1 schools across the country.
Jaelyn Acker | Junior
The 5’7 guard has been an essential role player for Germantown. She pushes the ball well in transition and has impressive handles. She finds her scorers well but also knows when to step up when defense on them is tight. Acker has a great shooting stroke and has really found confidence shooting the ball this season. Acker is also an in your face defender and is many times seen guarding the opposing team’s best player.
Natalie McNeal | Senior
The Saint Louis commit is beyond fundamentally sound. She handles the ball well and has a high basketball IQ. She has such a scorers mentality and knows just how to find her shots on the floor. McNeal is leading her team and averaging 18.7 points per game. McNeal has also become a rebonding specialist for her team and is averaging nearly 10 rebounds per game. In a win over Brookfield East, McNeal scored 25 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.
