Chatham’s Maddie Hartnett gets ready to launch free throw,There’s an old adage that says the cream always rises to the top. In Chatham’s Maddie Hartnett’s case, it couldn’t be truer. The gifted senior guard scored 13 of her game-high 14 points in the second half, leading the second-seeded Cougars passed No. 3 Randolph, 40-28, at the Morris County Tournament semifinals Friday night at the County College of Morris.
The Rams held Hartnett to one point in the first half, as she missed all seven of her shots from the field. But what could be Hartnett’s biggest attribute in her multifaceted tool belt is her steely determination to succeed, which came shining through in the second half, especially the fourth quarter during which she drained seven points.
