LaGrange
Megan BrothersMegan Brothers-G-grabbed my attention early with her ability to catch and shoot the long ball with accuracy but the more I observed her mindset of creating her shot and setting defenders up, I said to myself ” she has something going” and she definitely did as she hit the long, the mid and attacked the basket but her BB-IQ and her desire to play the passing lane, this got her a couple of tacky fouls that I wouldn’t have called, sold me on a player that could be on the 2021 Top 100 list depending on what she does in the club season
Aysia Grant-F-what’s the base, long and athletic so she has that covered but two things, she finished and she finished after contact not to mention she rebounded, ran the floor and defended, inside the paint and the perimeter. When they needed a big shot, she delivered and another she showed was she went after loose balls, another lost art
Jahze Woods, Ariel Thompson, and Raeshawna Davis were basically clones at the post. All went hard in the paint, all had strong bodies and didn’t mind mixing it up so when you have players that are interchangeable in your system where there is not drop off…..
Wharton
J’Kayla DavisJ’Kayla Davis-F- scary upside packed into her body, she’s long and athletic and a junior but her first step could be devastating as she has the ability to get by defenders with ease. She elevates on her jumper and launches it from NBA range but she also plays the passing lane and watching her snag the ball out of the air effortlessly was a treat. Good defender and rebounder
Courtney Coleman and Justaisha Holmes were a couple of “ones” on the court at the same time and both brought something to the table. Coleman is steady, controls temp and could attack and dish as well as score while Holmes blazed by defenders with good speed and she too read the defense and played the passing lane, not to mention getting to the basket effortlessly
Dreanna BarrowDreana Barrow-I love battlers and she definitely went after everything and her efforts weren’t unnoticed as she did the little things only a trained knowledgeable evaluator would notice that doesn’t show on stat sheets like switching at the right time or setting a pick which led to a basket but she also is one of those “you won’t outwork me players” and her effort on the offensive boards kept them in striking distance most of the game
LaGrange wins 58-49
