I had been hearing about Fulshear’s freshman PG Ese Ogbevire but one thing I’ve found out over the years, especially after one of these NATIONAL scouting services had my daughter ranked 267 at the guard spot, is that I need to see things for myself, maybe they ranked her that way because of my overly profane verbiage and threats directed toward them. Nevertheless, I’m still here to keep it real and the upside of Ogbevire tells me she’s the deal
Fulshear
Ese OgbevireEse Ogbevire-explosive first step and she attacks relentlessly to the basket. Her passes are crisp and on the money and she understands the simple things a point guard needs to know at this stage. I love her upside because she goes hard, on both ends and doesn’t mind applying pressure and her ball handling in traffic showed she could handle it. She also slides in tight angles to get the basket, showed she could create while being defended and get her shot off. She will be added to the 2023 WATCH LIST
Kylie Ashman-the offensive star of the first half, she’s long and athletic and a shade or two under the magic number of 6’0 that college coaches covet. She finished, with contact and she showed mid to long-range but her length also enables her to rebound off balance as well as get her shot off in tight situations. Nice handle, got to her spot and nailed it
Jordyn Watson-her film doesn’t do her justice, especially after she gave me the BLOCK OF THE NIGHT in the first half and in the second half, she carried the squad on both ends. I watched her attack from just about every angle and one thing I love from players this size, she’s listed at 5’11, who are long and athletic is when they understand how to size defenders up. If you can take your man, woman, do it but her midrange, rebounding, and defense all were positives
Navasota
Kayla Richards-the game starts at the one and she kept them close throughout the first half with heady play and scoring bits and pieces. Sees the court well, plays passing lane and defend but just that court savvy and playing under control was solid
Jakayla Jones-coming back from an ACL injury is tough, especially when your first game back is in the playoffs yet the aftermath of it being psychological was thrown out of the window because had I not seen the brace, I never would’ve known. She’s a punisher and a bruiser and her battling, especially after just coming back was throwback stuff but she also rebounds and finishes
Sha’Dimon KingSha’Dimon King-she was the queen of the second half for Navasota after she caught fire and kept the game from getting out of hand. Scoring all of her points in the second half, double digits, definitely kept them within striking distance as she attacked and either connected or connected from the free-throw line after being fouled but she also added some outside points as well
