Ames escapes a late surge from Roosevelt to win at home
It was a battle between these two teams for the entirety of the game but Bradley commit Caroline Waite and senior Brooke Spraggins proved to be too much for the visiting Roosevelt. Waite scored 22 points in the game while Spraggins came up with two late steals and buckets to stretch the lead from two points to six points with less than two minutes left in the game. Waite also came up big on the defensive end as she had five steals including a couple of key forced turnovers late in the game. Junior Ashley Iiams also had a good game for Ames scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 boards. Roosevelt was led by Amaya Davison and Ke’Ayla Madison as each put up 15 points.
Algona takes down Clear Lake
Less than a month after being beaten by 21 points on Clear Lake’s home floor, Algona got revenge on Tuesday night. They led for most of the game and ended up winning the game by three points, 48-45. This gives Algona a lot of momentum heading into postseason play as they have been struggling a bit as of late. Northern State commit Abbey Holmes came up big leading Algona in points with 15, rebounds with five, and assists with four. This was a huge win for Algona as they handed Clear Lake their second loss.
Grace Boffeli is the most dominant player in the state
On Tuesday night North Scott took on Davenport Central and easily cruised to a 72-57 win over the hosts. Senior Grace Boffeli continued her torrid pace on the season and turned in one of the best performances in the entire state this year. She finished the game with 45 points on 15-of-21 shooting and grabbed 22 rebounds, nine of which were offensive boards. Boffeli has proven this year that she can put a team on her back and lead them to a win. It worked in the state tournament last season and it is looking like it will work again this season.
