Next year’s class of seniors in Oklahoma girls’ basketball looks to be a stellar one – if this season’s shooting stats are any indicator. These three juniors have been amazing this season and should draw a lot of attention from coaches at the next level.
Brianna Wietelman | 6-2 F | Oklahoma Christian Academy (Edmond)
Wietelman’s team is not having the season that she most definitely wished for, but that has not stopped her from putting up monster numbers. Wietelman is a big body inside and has a fabulous touch around the basket. She is even able to step out and hit from distance when called upon, which is becoming even more desirable in college basketball these days. The Edmond native is extremely tough and spends her offseason playing softball for OCA.
Temira Poindexter | 6-1 F | Sapulpa
Poindexter can flat out play some basketball. She plays in the middle with a ferocity not seen too often in girls’ high school ball. She is tough and searches out contact when driving to the hoop. Just like Wietelman, Poindexter has a smooth stroke from behind the arc and when she is feeling it, she will take shots from Steph Curry range. Her size allows her to cover any played on the court and she is an outstanding defender. It is no wonder that offers are pouring in for this rising junior.
Chantae Embry | 6-1 F | Norman
Embry is averaging almost a double-double this season in points and rebounds. She is an absolute force in the middle. She does all of the little things that a coach could ask of a player. She will take a charge. She can handle the ball and create her own shot or find the open shooter when needed. She hustles on both ends of the court and embraces the challenge of going one-on-one with the opposing team’s best defender. As she begins play with her club team again after the Norman High season is over, expect her to garner a lot of interest from Division I schools.
