When I watch volleyball, I just see it. The athleticism in some of these athletes, you can tell no matter what sport they would play, they would find a way to be really great at it. Being heavily involved in the volleyball world, I love seeing these athletes having success at various sports and activities. I know there are plenty of athletes who are having success in volleyball and basketball, but here are a few who really jump out so far this club volleyball and high school basketball season.
Jordan Kuper – Monticello
Committed to Sioux Falls (volleyball)
Kuper is extremely dominant as a middle blocker for CIA 18 Black out of the Cedar Valley area and I can imagine thats how she rules the post in basketball. Strong and agile, Kuper is part of a really talented recruiting class that is heading to Sioux Falls for volleyball. Kuper averages nearly a double-double in basketball for a 15-5 Monticello squad.
Morgan Weber – Dike-New Hartford (Title Photo)
Committed to Wichita State (volleyball)
Weber is one of the top athletes in the state and has had a busy career juggling basketball and volleyball. With team hardware in both sports, Weber is part of the number one ranked DNH girls basketball team that currently sits at 17-1 with Weber averaging 10.1 points per game and is the team’s leading rebounder. This past season in volleyball, Weber was one of the top attackers in all classes with nearly 600 kills.
Jordyn Hamm – Spirit Lake
Committed to Sioux Falls (volleyball)
Sioux Falls is definitely getting their fill of athletes who can contribute in multiple sports. Hamm is a strong and physical frontline player when it comes to volleyball and was part of a really dominant Spirit Lake team this past fall earning plenty of volleyball honors. She is the team’s leading scorer and rebounder in basketball teaming up with another dual sport start in Emma Loveall who is a UW-Milwaukee commit for volleyball.
Helaina Hillyard – Mediapolis
Committed to Western Illinois (volleyball)
Hillyard could be put on any court or field and she is going to find a way to contribute. She is heading to Western Illinois for volleyball, she is a state track and field athlete, and is averaging 17 points per game in basketball for Mediapolis who is currently 19-1 and a top ten team in Class 2A. If you watch Hillyard run a slide, it looks so smooth like she is going for a layup, her athleticism is tough to top.
Helaina Hillyard (@helaina32) of Mediapolis is the PGH Iowa Player of the Week after gaining 42.36% of the vote last week! She how she did it and some expectations for the season from her here: https://t.co/Ec0fW9wd7q

Newell-Fonda
Again, it doesn’t matter what court or field – Newell-Fonda is now a powerhouse in all that is girls high school sports for Class 1A. Their basketball team is looking to defend their state title from 2019, but their volleyball team was one match from reaching the state tournament Megan Morenz, Macy Sievers, and Ella Larsen were key attackers for the Mustangs this past volleyball season and they are all key contributors on their basketball team as well. Athletes who know what it takes to win, perform in clutch situations just make it a habit – plus the name and tradition of Newell-Fonda is always worth a few points when it comes to tournament time.
Iowa Rockets 16R Club Volleyball Team
Every situation is different, but I know club volleyball and basketball can sometimes be a tug and pull relationship with athletes spending their off days for basketball at a club volleyball tournament. What I want to highlight about this particular group is that there are many athletes who are finding a way to do both and are doing it well – plus I’m assuming they are strong students as well – this is something that is not easy to do. Calia Clubb of Clear Creek-Amana is one of the top players for a strong Clipper basketball team as a Sophomore and is also a top ten prospect in her class for volleyball. Kelsey Drake was a key athlete in leading Wilton to the state volleyball tournament and she just happened to drop 46 points in a basketball game earlier this season. Macy Daufeldt is a Drake volleyball commit and averaging 12 points per game for West Liberty who is sitting at 16-3 on the season.
