Juniors have now become seniors in the realm of high school athletics, and that means 2021 prospects will need to step into leadership positions and shoulder more responsibility in their upcoming senior campaigns. With that in mind, here are five guards from the class of 2021 that I believe are going to emerge as superstars next season.
Evie Goetz Evie Goetz 5'11" | SF Denton Guyer | 2021 State TX – 2021 6’1 Combo Guard (HG Elite Watts) Denton Guyer HS – The TCU commit already possesses a polished all-around offensive game. Goetz can exploit mismatches in the post with her size and can also handle the rock and shoot the three ball at a high clip. She is already a star, but the point forward should receive an even larger role now that Jade Thompson Jade Thompson 5'6" | CG Denton Guyer | 2020 State TX is set to graduate and move on to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
Kate Valle Kate Valle 5'11" | SG John Paul II | 2021 State TX – 2021 5’11 Shooting Guard (Pro Skills 16U National) John Paul II HS – Nevaeh Tot was the focal point of JPII’s offense during the 2019-20 season, but she is poised to join the Sooners in Oklahoma. Valle will now assume duties as the Cardinals’ lead guard. The 2021 prospect is an excellent finisher in the open court and a reliable three-point shooter from the catch. Her defensive instincts are outstanding too. She will have the opportunity for a breakout season.
Paige Bradley Paige Bradley 5'9" | SG Bishop Lynch | 2021 State #95 Nation TX – 2021 5’9 Combo Guard (SA Finest) Bishop Lynch HS – Bradley plays with emotion which will allow her to seamlessly slide into a leadership position as a senior. She is great at shifting gears and changing direction while handling the ball. The University of Texas commit knows how to find holes in the defense and score while also keeping her teammates involved. Additionally, she has a nice pull-up jumper from mid-range.
Isabella Earle Isabella Earle 5'8" | SG Denton Guyer | 2021 State TX – 2021 5’10 Combo Guard Denton Guyer HS – Earle is another combo guard from Denton Guyer whose role should grow as a senior. She is a brilliant facilitator with a crafty handle and exceptional court vision. That said, the team is going to need her to contribute more as a scorer with the departure of Thompson. She displayed the ability to score while playing off the ball during the playoffs, so, that shouldn’t be an issue.
Zoe Jackson Zoe Jackson 5'8" | CG Allen | 2021 State TX – 2021 5’8 Point Guard Allen HS – The Allen Eagles’ floor general can get it done offensively on or off the ball. Jackson is an effective three-point shooter off the dribble as well as from the catch. She can do damage in the paint with floaters and runners too. In addition, her quickness at both ends is tremendous. Her teammate Mackenzie Wurm Mackenzie Wurm 6'3" | C Allen | 2021 State TX is a talented post player who is also set to become a senior next season. Her and Jackson are going to provide the Eagles with a powerful one-two punch.
