Millennium was heavily favored coming into the season. Almost everybody in AZ had predicted Millennium to repeat as state champs and that’s exactly what they did! The tigers finished the regular season 17-1, only losing to the eventual 6A Champions, Valley Vista Monsoon. However, in their conference, Millennium was unbeaten and dominant the entire way. Here are some of the players who really made an impact for the Tigers this season.
Jasmine Singleton Jasmine Singleton 5'6" | CG Millennium | 2020 State AZ 5’7 2020 G (UNLV)
Singleton is the heart and soul of the team. She plays with a lot of intensity and leadership. She may not put up crazy stats, but what she does on the count is valuable to her team. She helps you win, straight up. Singleton’s defense and high basketball IQ have given her a tremendous opportunity to play D1 basketball at UNLV.
Ali Zelaya Ali Zelaya 6'4" | PF Millennium | 2020 State AZ 6’4 2020 F (North Carolina)
Zelaya is a dominant post, one of the only true posts in the state. While Zelaya can score down low with a series of post moves, she can also really stretch out the floor with her shooting. She has a silky smooth jump shot and hits from mid-range to 3 consistently. Her versatility, size, and skill have landed her at North Carolina!
Trayanna Crisp Trayanna Crisp 5'7" | CG PHH Prep | 2022 State AZ 5’8 2022 G
Crisp showed a lot of improvements this season. Of course her play improved but she looked really calm and poised every time I saw her play. She looks ready to take on the lead role next year, as Millennium is graduating star seniors Zelaya and Singleton. I think Crisp is more than up for the task and is going to be a big problem next season! She already has shown us what she can do scoring wise. She can score in anyway she wants. She can shoot it from deep with consistency or she can use her elite strength and bully her way and get a drive.
Kassidy Dixon 5’9 2021 G
Dixon is a player that has somehow flown under a lot of people’s radar. She finally got the recognition she deserves by getting her first D1 offer this season, congrats to her! Dixon might be the most athletic guard in the state. She has tremendous speed and jumping ability. She is a superb athlete and the skills are really catching up to that elite athleticism. Expect Dixon to take a big leap in her development heading into next season.
Amoret Maxwell 5’10 2021 G
Amoret is the first key piece for Millennium. She has great size and length, standing at 5’10 and primarily plays shooting guard. Maxwell can really shoot it from down town and is showing signs of improvement in other areas as well. Maxwell, Crisp, and Dixon are going to be crucial if Millennium wants to make a run at a 3 peat next season!
