Let’s face it Covid-19 has us all wondering about the AAU scene this summer. Without AAU many players will go under the radar and not be seen by college coaches and recruiters. Boo Williams a well-known advocate for girls’ grassroots basketball, has many teams with a lot of talent and new faces each year. With that being said, here are some athletes that play under the Boo Williams Summer League, that we can’t wait to see on the court assuming AAU will begin this summer.
Quiaña Vazquez, BWSL, 5’7 SG, Jr.
If you’re looking for an explosive combo guard, Vazquez is the player you need. She can knock down the three-point shot if needed or take your best defender to the hoop. Vazquez’s finishing ability is elite and her craftiness at the basket makes her a hard player to guard. Also, her height gives her advantages on defense where she can guard the one, two, or three positions. It makes sense Vazquez has interests from Radford, Longwood, Belmont Abbey, and many others.
Cayla Copeland, BWSL Select Team, 5’10 SF/PF, Sr.
Cayla Copeland is two words, a dynamic player. What stands out the most about her game is her offensive and defensive rebounding skills. Copeland also finishes well around the basket and can knock down a mid-range or three-point shot. On defense Copeland is unstoppable, being able to use her length to get easy steals from anyone she’s guarding. The upcoming senior has interests from Norfolk State, Radford, and Northwestern. We can’t wait to see what she will bring in her final summer of AAU!
Riley Sheridan, BWSL, 5’11 SF/PF, Jr.
Sheridan can simply do it all on the court. She’s a threat passing, scoring, rebounding, and defending. She does it all! But what many people say is the best about her game, is her coachable attitude and her energy on the court. Sheridan is a great leader and is constantly in the gym perfecting her craft. The upcoming junior has interests from UNC Greensboro, Charleston Southern, and many others. Thankfully, we have two summers to see Sheridan show how talented she is on the AAU scene.
Correyain Wright, BWSL Select Team, 5’10 PG/SF, Sr.
Many people compare Correyain Wright to Kawai Leonard for a reason. They both are game-changers and outwork everybody on the court. Wright is a dominant force on defense, she makes it hard for anybody that she is guarding. She is quick and she uses that to blow by defenders and attack the rim hard. Wright lets her game do the talking and we can’t wait to see her play this summer!
Imani Felton, BWSL, 5’8 PG/SG, Sr.
Felton is a hustle player. She does the things that don’t show up on the stat sheet such as, defensive stops, sprinting back on defense, going after loose balls, and bringing energy to the game. Those little things make scoring and getting her teammates involved much easier. Felton takes pride being a great defender and you can tell defense is the focus of her game. Being that this will be her last summer playing AAU, we have a lot to look forward to!
