To recap the quarterfinal scores, McPherson (1) beat Basehor-Linwood (8), 59-44; Aquinas (4) beats Maize South (5), 62-35; Andover Central (2) beat De Soto (7), 61-52; and Topeka-Seaman (3) beat Maize (6), 54-44.
Sydney Holmes Sydney Holmes 5'9" | CG Maize | 2021 State KS , 5’9, G/F, 2021, Maize
Holmes is a two-way wing style player who can play on the perimeter and get inside and make some moves. She has a strong frame and is listed at 5-9 and shows good length and strength for Maize. Holmes was strong against Seaman, showing her range in popping out and scoring consecutive 3-pointers near the top of the key. A player who continues to improve.
Baylee Miller, 5’9, F, 2021, Maize
A nice defensive player inside who looks to contest shots and keep opponents out of the low post area. Miller had some physicality and length for maze but chose good speed and awareness and is quick to pass the ball and get the ball up the floor. Miller can also make some plays on offense and is a good rebounder as well.
Katelynn Ostronic, 5’11, F, 2021, De Soto
A nice forward who plays on both ends of the floor. She can block shots and protect the basket at a high level and looks to push the tempo and pass up the floor. Ostronic can extend the floor with her outside shooting from the corner and wing spot. She has a terrific upside given her size and fluid play and is constantly improving and making moves. Ostreonic led De Soto with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Grace Pyle Grace Pyle 5'10" | SG McPherson | 2021 State KS , 5’10, G/F, 2021, McPherson
A nice two-way player who can force a turnover and kick off a transition look. She anticipates drives and passes and moves well off the ball and looks to collapse and shut things down in the paint. Pyle also looks to extend the floor on offense. She keeps her distance and Pyle ended the game with a strong double-double, scorung 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Camryn Turner Camryn Turner 5'8" | CG Topeka Seaman | 2021 KS , 5’8, G/F, 2021, Seaman
The leading scorer for her team and the game overall as well. Turner is an impressive leader who can contribute offensively given her high IQ and accuracy as a shooter. She runs the floor and looks to score quickly and take advantage of open spots and open lanes as she moves inside to score. Turner scored 20 points for the game and left supporters and fans optimistic heading into her senior year.
