Continue ReadingThe rankings for the class of 2022 have been updated and I will begin the positional breakdown of coverage with the 4’s and 5’s in the painted area. The post play for this class is solid overall and has a lot more depth than the 2023 group, but not the elite level talent as we see in the 2020 class. There are about five players, give or take, that have a real shot at playing at the Division 1 level and a handful that would be great fits at the Division, 2, NAIA and other levels below.
Class of 2022: Forwards/Posts
6’4 C Camille Jentzsch Camille Jentzsch 6'4" | C Lake Stevens | 2022 State WA (Lake Stevens HS) – The number five ranked sophomore in the state had a really solid sophomore season and got better as the season went along. She had a career high 24 points one game this season and she’s easily capable of pulling down double digit rebounds in any game. Legitimate Division 1 prospect. *Feature image
6’4 F/C Lauren Glazier Lauren Glazier 6'4" | PF Mt. Si | 2022 State WA (Mt. Si HS) – A work in progress, but ranked in the top 10 nonetheless. She is long, agile and improving. She upped her averages in scoring, rebounds and blocks this season. Seeing progression season by season is huge and that’s what Glazier was able to show.
6’2 PF Cori Wilcox Cori Wilcox 6'2" | PF Lake Stevens | 2022 State WA (Lake Stevens HS) – A strong and physical presence on both sides of the ball. A teammate to Jentzsch, listed above, Wilcox is physically able to hold her own against most posts in the state. She has drawn some Division 1 interest and she will look to have a strong Summer to boost her recruitment to the next level.
6’4 C Elise Hani Elise Hani 6'4" | C Lake Washington | 2022 State WA (Lake Washington HS) – One of the biggest stock risers of the high school season. Hani is long and mobile and provides good rim protection, as well as a decent skill set on the offensive end. Volleyball seems to be her main sport right now, but she showed very well this high school season and should be a player that MM Division 1’s are at least aware of.
6’2 C Alexis Stein Alexis Stein 6'2" | C Kennewick | 2022 State WA (Kennewick HS) – Unfortunately had to deal with an injury this high school season, but still a strong body post that colleges should be aware of. In my last evaluation of Stein, she set some of the hardest screens I had seen. She competes on the glass and brings a toughness to the paint. A throwback post player!
5’11 PF Catelyn Deaver Catelyn Deaver 6'0" | PF Sumner | 2022 State WA (Sumner HS) – A workhorse inside the paint that does a lot of her damage on the boards, as displayed through her 10.6 rebounds per game. Deaver did step out and attempt some three balls this season, knocking down a handful. It is great to see her add a layer to her game and this will be an area to continue to track over time. A solid, hard-working prospect overall.
6’4 C Nyahoak Rambang Nyahoak Rambang 6'4" | C Lincoln | 2022 WA (Lincoln HS) – A newly ranked player on Prep Girls Hoops, but an eye catching prospect right when she stepped on the floor. Rambang is long, runs the floor and provides rim protection that could translate to the Division 1 level. The question is going to be the development of her offensive skill set. If she dedicates herself to skill development, she could be a big time stock riser and find herself playing college ball on a full scholarship.
6’1 PF Allie Harrison Allie Harrison 6'1" | PF Newport | 2022 State WA (Newport HS) – Another forward prospect that we saw improvement from. She has the length and mobility to impact the game, but her aggressiveness slowly but surely turning up a notch is the key. She nearly doubled her scoring and rebounding and successfully doubled her blocks, assists and steals per game. With continued progression year by year, Harrison will be a solid college prospect at the right level.
5’10 PF Taija Mackey Taija Mackey 5'11" | PF Pasco | 2022 State WA (Pasco HS) – The shortest player listed, but definitely one of the strongest and possibly the best set of hands out of any post in the class I have seen. Taija cleans up on the boards very well and sets hard screens. She is a put back threat, but doesn’t try to do anything too outside of the box, which makes her an efficient and reliable post player.
