Continue ReadingThe class of 2023 rankings have been posted to the site and college coaches and other readers can see a plethora of coverage that has been released in the last few days. Previous content has been primarily on the guards and wings, but I will now shift the focus onto some of the forwards and posts from the freshman class.
As of now, the 4’s and 5’s do not have nearly the same depth of talent as there is across the point guard, shooting guard and small forward positions. A part of that is size comes in waves, class by class and there is also the possibility that some posts are still developing and/or yet to be identified.
The Players:
2023 6’4 PF Olivia Anderson Olivia Anderson 6'6" | PF Ellensburg | 2023 State #37 Nation WA (Ellensburg HS) – The potential diamond of Washington’s 2023 class. Anderson’s developing skills and outstanding length and athleticism is something we do not see every year in Washington. Her best basketball is ahead of her and from an evaluation standpoint, I understand it is a step by step process, but the excitment surrounding her is real and she has the humility and work ethic to live up to her potential.
2023 5’11 SF/PF Amelie Sitterud Amelie Sitterud 6'0" | SG Tahoma | 2023 State WA (Eastside Catholic HS) – A player that dealt with injuries in her freshman season before being cleared to play, but Sitterud is still worth college coaches tracking. She has a strong frame to absorb contact and she has some inside-out potential in the 5’11 range.
2023 6’0 PF Ellie Marble Ellie Marble 6'0" | PF LaConner | 2023 State WA (LaConner HS) – A young, multi-sport star that put together a really solid freshman season. Marble finished with averages of 9 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals per game. In the 2b State semi-final game, the 6’0 freshman scored 10 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead her team to the state championship, where they would finish with a runner-up trophy. She has the height and athleticism to work with. How she continues to develop with her skills on the court will determine her level as a college prospect.
2023 6’3 C Vivienne Berrett Vivienne Berrett 6'4" | C Stanwood | 2023 State WA (Stanwood HS) – A big presence in the middle with a developing skill set and feel for the game. Berrett has natural strength and good size overall, but she is still in the early stages of the player she can eventually become. She has some lower Division 1 schools that are keeping an eye on her, but her process will be step by step and one thing she has is the size that 99% of Washington’s freshman class does not.
One more name to track:
2023 5’11 PF Taliah Lee Taliah Lee 5'11" | PF Gonzaga Prep | 2023 State WA (Gonzaga Prep)
