Class of 2023: Wings to Know
As mentioned in our 2023 coverage throughout the week, the freshman class has a bit of everything for colleges to recruit for. The wing position is really solid with multiple Division 1 and Division 2 prospects to be aware of. Below you will find a list of several college prospects in the 2023 class that range from 5’9-6’1 that are worth tracking moving forward.
2023 Wings to Know:
6’1 SF Jenna Villa Jenna Villa 6'1" | SF Arlington | 2023 State WA (Arlington HS) – Versatile 2/3 that is super solid all around! Skilled, high IQ player that should only get better with time. *Feature image
6’1 SG Macey Huard (Bear Creek HS) – Strong, skilled and tough at 6’1. Her older sister is a D1 prospect in 2021 class, her father played professional football and mom played basketball at UW.
6’0 SF Adria Lincoln Adria Lincoln 6'1" | SF Monroe | 2023 State WA (Monroe HS) – Put together a strong individual freshman season for Monroe, averaging 15 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Has all the tools to work with!
6’0 SF Imbie Jones Imbie Jones 6'2" | SF Garfield | 2023 State WA (Eastside Catholic HS) – Has the length and frame that Division 1 coaches are always looking for. More of a 3/4 at this stage and did a lot of the dirty work for a guard heavy Eastside Catholic team. A player to continue to track over time.
6’0 SF McKynnlie Dalan McKynnlie Dalan 6'0" | PF Montesano | 2023 State WA (Montesano HS) – Great wiry-strong build for a freshman with good bounce off the floor. Can finish with either hand around the basket. Capable of defending 4 positions on the floor and a very good rebounder. Plays for a tiny, lesser-known school, but she has game.
6’0 SF Sydney Hani Sydney Hani 6'1" | SF Lake Washington | 2023 State WA (Lake Washington HS) – Strong, aggressive and fearless wing. Loved how she went right at upperclassmen in the state tournament and played during crunch time for Lake Washington in the biggest parts of the season. She has a very good chance to play Division 1 basketball as she continues to work on her game and develop.
5’10 SF Alyssa Smith Alyssa Smith 5'10" | SF Bethel | 2023 State WA (Bethel HS) – Another wing that is always in attack mode. Rebounds, pushes the tempo and looks to make plays on both sides of the ball. Helped Bethel to an undefeated regular season at one point before going down with a very unfortunate knee injury. Colleges will not have the opportunity to see her this Summer, but with her work ethic, she will be back competing before you know it.
5’10 SG Brooke Beresford Brooke Beresford 5'10" | SG Woodinville | 2023 State WA (Woodinville HS) – Woodinville is loaded with youthful college prospects right now and Brooke is next in line. She has a very strong frame for a freshman and she can really shoot the ball. She is every bit the shooter that any other listed player is. I will continue to keep an eye on her development, but she had some impressive moments in her freshman year!
5’9 SF Marecia Barnett Marecia Barnett 5'10" | SG Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA (Emerald Ridge HS) – A versatile guard/wing with a very strong frame that can finish through contact. Her outside shot has improved some and she sees the floor well on the break. A player who’s progress is worth tracking over time.
5’9 SF Maya Barnett Maya Barnett 5'10" | SG Emerald Ridge | 2023 State WA (Emerald Ridge HS) – Twin sister is mentioned above. Maya has battled down low more so over the years, but she has versatility to her game as well. She is strong, competes on the boards and will only get better with time. She put together a solid freshman season and expect her to make more strides in the next 6 months.
