In the age of positionalist basketball some feel that the point guard position has dissappeared.  If you just go out to an open gym run, or to a local high school game.  You might say, it would be hard to spot an actual player that you can pin point as a true point guard.  I even thought that the point guard position was never to be found again.  But as I notice this season i was definitely proven wrong, and I was able to observe some of the top 2022 point guards in state of North carolina.  These are the players that stood out, so here's a look at the best point guards in the Sophomore class of 2022 in the state of North Carolina. Jerni kiaku – Jerni is clearly the most athletic and most explosive poinit guard in the class of 2022 in the state of North Carolina.  her offensive arsenial comes with a quick first step that makes it hard for any opponent to keep her in front of them, her explosive cross over that is difficult to stop.  Only standing at 5"6 she can leap like she is a six footer able to track opponents down at a speed that most guards don't have is very impressive.  She reminds you of a young Dewayne Wade.   Jerni is coming off a spectular season.  Surpasing a 1,000 career points and leading her team to the 3r round of the state playoffs is a great accomplishments. She is definitely a top 2022 prospect Amore' Kirkland – Amore' could very well be the best player in the Cumberland county area.  Smooth, calm cool collective Seventy First point guard finished out the season very solid.  Averiging 11.2 points per game as sophomore and 9.7 assist per game #1 in the state and 4th in the country. Her ability to distribute the ball to her teammates, and get everyone involved is a true display of what a point guard is suppose to be. Her ability to run a team and be unselfish is truly one of her strongest attributes she possess.  Look out for her next season in her junior year to be even better as she develops more and more.  Definitely a high prospect for 2022  Tamia Morris – Tamia is a throw back type of point guard who is a coaches dream to have.  She is simply a do what you need type of PG. Morris is the head of the snake for the EE Smith Bulldogs.  She can push the ball head it up the floor getting it to the right person for the score.  She is solid woith out the ball being at the right place on the floor to recieve the pass from her teammates and able to catch and shoot, very liable to knock down the open three.  One of her stongest assests is the ability to guard her opponet 94 feet.  She is definitely a pest on defense.  Morris played an instrumental part in her team reaching the 3A State title game.  Strong prospect for 2022  Laney Beale – Laney  a point guard who does it all.  She can find the open player up the court.  Always keeping her head up to put the ball where it needs to be to assist her teammates in scoring the easy bucket.  She has the gift to catch and shoot the long ball or pull up off the dribble.  She is definitely a fiesty defender able to harass her opponent and play the passing lane very well.  Her energetic approach to the game makes her a top prospect point guard for the class of 2022. Emily Hege – Emily is coming off a spectacular sophomore year where she played remarkable she is a walking bucket.  Emilies motor is like a Farrei taking off from 0-80 MPH.  When she is on the court you can see her impact made immediately.  Hege even had a 47 point game during her sophomore season grabbing 8 steals scoring 19 points in the 4th quarter.  Emily has risen to be one of the most talented point guards in the state. She is definitely a top prospect for class of 2022.   Other Names to Know: McKenna Snively – She averaged nearly 11.1 points per game as a Sophomore and is only going to get better over the next 3 season. Sali Moss – Sali a creative instictive point guard.  She is able to find her teammates in traffic and can take the deep three off the dribble.  Stay on the look out for her in the season ahead. Kaya Goldby– She averaged nearly 11.2 points per game and 4.1 steals per game as a Sophomore She definitely has tremoudous upsize and will be a top prospect for her class of 2022.
A point guard is a floor general, they lead by example, they hold their teammates accountable.
